WEDNESDAY 18th
After our lunch meeting it was time
to head to the airport for my flight to Samara. My final destination
was Togliatti which is only about 45 minutes drive from Samara.
The check-in was a bit scary as nothing was in English but I did
make it onto the right plane and we landed on time and Dmitry met
me… on the Tarmac!! Can't imagine that happening anywhere else
in the world these days can you?
So we set off for Togliatti which is where the main car plant is
of GM/Avtovaz. You might remember that these shows are part of the
city celebrations for the production of a new car through a joint
venture between General Motors and Avtovaz, the Russian car makers.
I was invited to meet Mayor Utkin and I did… at the local bowling
alley!! Funny old world really, but it was a nice meeting and I
enjoyed it a lot!
Eventually got to the hotel and I was ready to crash!! I had a busy
day the next day so I needed some sleep!
