SUNDAY 22nd

When I woke up the sun was shining so it looked as though my prayers had been answered!! So I warmed up my voice a bit and got ready to go to lunch (what? more food?… ed)

This lunch was even better than yesterday's but we were kind of in a hurry to get to the gig…

We were playing in the car park (that's parking lot for those of you from Loma Linda!!) of the Volga Sports Centre, the home of the Togliatti ice-hockey team but guess what… it was raining now! Not hard…… but enough to be annoying and to make me feel like I was back in England!!! I guess God decided that the trees and flowers needed the rain more than we needed sunshine and that's okay with me! (it had better be… ed)

We were sharing the power with the Sports Centre until 5pm but after the local band played we were ready to "rock in the rain" and the crowd was ready too!!
We played a slightly shorter set so that people didn't get too wet but the rain let up and no-one left so it was a great night for everyone…

Now it was time to go to a reception being held by our sponsors GM/Avtovaz and this was fun. Not too many speeches (although they asked me to say a few words which is silly because I don't know how to say a few words!), good food, good company and lots of vodka which some of the guys really enjoyed!!! There was a Russian folk chorus that was amazing and we'll see more of this tomorrow night at the official dinner. I'll try to describe it better then because it really is something very special!

By now though I was pretty tired and with an early start tomorrow it was time for "James" (I call all our drivers that) to take us back to the hotel where a full-blown disco was shaking the building!!! Aaaaaaggggggghhhhhh!! I really hate disco!! And my room is just above the reception area! So much for sleep again!

Goodnight!! Maybe…

Next day...
