Siuan Sanche

The Amyrlin Seat is expected to be a hard woman with a commanding presence.  Kings and queens come when an Amyrlin Seat calls.  And Siuan Sanche had an imposing presence even for an Amyrlin Seat.

Before coming to the White Tower for training as an Aes Sedai, she was the daughter of a poor Tairen fisherman.  Her early life was difficult, hardening her beyond her years.  This toughness served her well in the White Tower.

Siuan Sanche came to the White Tower with a great deal of potential.  She was strong in the One Power and learned quickly.  Siuan developed a close relationship with Moiraine Damodred .  Like Moiraine, she chose the Blue Ajah when she was raised as a full Aes Sedai.

Siuan and Moiraine both knew the Dragon had been Reborn, and both recognized the need to find and protect him in his early years.  While Moiraine traveled the land looking for clues to his identity, Siuan served as an assistant head of the Blue Ajah’s intelligence network.  As she grew in the Power, so too did she rise in prominence.

Her rise to power ended with Amyrlin Seat itself.  Siuan was a strong woman, and a strong Amyrlin.  Moiraine did eventually find the Dragon Reborn, but that was the beginning of the end of Sanche’s reign as Amyrlin.  Her plots to discover and guide the Dragon Reborn, as opposed to turning him over to the White Tower, led to her stilling and the breaking of the White Tower.

Siuan Sanche joined the rebel Aes Sedai residing in Salidar.  Her knowledge of the Blue Ajah’s intelligence network proved invaluable.  She was able to maintain a position of some importance among the Aes Sedai in Salidar, despite having lost her ability to touch saidar.

But that changed.  Nynaeve al’Meara discovered it was possible to Heal someone who had been stilled.  While she did not regain her former strength in the Power, Siuan was once again able to channel saidar.  This earned her a higher standing among the Aes Sedai of Salidar.

Siuan currently heads the intelligence of the Salidar Aes Sedai.  In addition, she is also a close advisor of the rebels’ Amyrlin Seat, Egwene al’Vere.  Her vast knowledge is a great asset to the forces of the Light.
