Country Gravestone (1996) This picture was drawn after a long absence from art. I'd gone on a choir trip to England, and was lying back on the grass of the churchyard of Malvern Priory when this tombstone caught my eye. It screamed out 'story!', with its effaced inscription bemoaning the loss of both mother and child... For some odd reason, instead of pulling out my notebook and writing a tale, I reached for a sketchbook. This was the result. |
