Belt Buckles The British Museum Seeing the Sutton Hoo belt buckle has led me on a hunt for another 'style II' belt buckle with a circular boss, to serve as precedent. I haven't found one yet. The items, L to R, T to B: a) detail from a Style II buckle, Marne, France, C7. b) Tinned-bronze belt buckle from Herpes, Charente, France. C6. c) Small (bronze?) buckle, later C7, from Breach Down, Kent. d) Tinned-bronze belt buckle with stylised human figure flanked by animals. From Amiens, Somme, France. C7. e) Design on iron belt-fitting. C7. (France?) |
