The usual question which surrounds a website such as mine is who is the person who put all of this together?
To give a terse biography of me:
My name is Marija Kuncaitis and I live and work in Toronto Canada.
I hold a Bachelors Degree in History from York University. I graduated in June 1995 and ever since then I have been one of the lucky ones to find a full-time job with benefits.
In my own masochistic way, I have returned to studying. I am currently studying to become an accountant, with the Ontario Chapter of the CGA (Certified General Accountants). I am about to enter my second level of studies, which means I have a very long time to wait until certification.
My personal interests include Lithuanian Mythology and reading historical monographs. As well, I play Dungeons and Dragons with a group of friends, every weekend.
I was born into a Lithuanian family. My father was born in Kaunas Lithuania in 1932, during the break between the two world wars in which Lithuania was an independant state. My mother was born in Suwalki Poland, an area thick with Lithuanians, one year after the Nazis invaded the country.
I was born and raised in Toronto, with Lithuanian being the only allowable language in the house. I went to a Lithuanian daycare centre, attending saturday school, took part in a Folk Dance Ensemble (Atzalynas) and joined the Sea Scouts.
I was so heavily emmersed within the culture I knew no other way. I thought it completely natural that Christmas Eve (Kucios) involves 12 non-meat dishes, and thought it completely normal to have picnics in the middle of graveyards (Velykos and Velines).
Now that I am no longer in school I have more time to devote towards my studies of Pagan Medieval Lithuania. At one of the monthly gatherings for Pagans and those who are into the esoteric, I met a person who quickly became my friend, an Elder of Romuva (Ethnic Church of Lithuania) and I have been helping her with her site, Sacred Serpent. Currently, I am also a co-moderator for a mailing list called "Romuva". If interested, please look at the links page.
