Dad (a.k.a. Chuck, Schweibabes, and Money-producing-unit)
A little history-- My father, beleive it or not, is the son of my grandfather. As my grandfather was in the Corps of Engineers, he was stationed in various parts of Europe in the years after WWII. My father has lived in Germany (1947-1950, age 2 to 5) and France (1961-1963), went to 1 year of college in Switzerland, and travelled all over Europe with his family when he was a child. He spoke German at one point, but claims to have forgotten most of it. As for his education, I think he spent some time at Hixson, a Webster Groves High School not far from Brad's house, among other pre-college learning facilities. He went to Dartmouth as an undergraduate (1964-1968) and majored in philosophy(??), then went on, as most philosophy majors do, to get a masters in Business Administration from the Harvard business school. He studied there up until 1990, when he finally gave up and transfered to the Law School at St. Louis University. Oh alright, that last part isn't entirely correct. He actually got his MBA in the normal amount of time and then went, naturally, to be a lieutenant in the army, stationed at Fort Monroe, Virginia. He met my Mom (who also worked for the army, in computing and programming) by remarking that the marketing book she was reading (she was thinking about getting an MBA herself) was written by one of his proffesors at Harvard. Later he asked her (on a really hot day) if she wanted to go for a swim in the officer's club. She accepted, and they went and swam and talked and such. At the time my Dad wanted to buy a sailboat, but had no place to store it. It just so happened that my Mom's parents (a.k.a. Mummum and Popadoc) had a big house on the shore (which they still do), and had plenty of space for storage (this conveniently precludes the necessity of saying "I want you to meet my parents", etc.) So he got a Hobie-Cat and went over there, met the parents, and eventually got married and the such and the like. At any rate, when he got out of the army ('73), he went to work at the management department of R. Rowland, which later clung to Simon for dear life before it was gobbled up in entirety by Stiefel Nicolaus. At these places (stock brockerage company, which merged with another, then got bought out by Stiefel Nicolaus) he was Manager of Operations, among other things. As far as I can tell, they put him wherever they needed some one, because he could do whatever they needed. After he graduated from Law School (1995)(an event I was much pleased with because it allowed me to miss half a day of school), he did some consulting for Coburn & Croft, worked for a brief stint at Peper, Martin, and Friends, and then went back to Coburn who was now with Thompson, not Croft. How fickle lawyers can be! (Actually Croft is still there (or is he dead?), and its just one big happy party, with no e-amil or internet connection!!! But I digest, mmmm....)

Current-- El Daddo lives in his house with my Mom and some other family members, whose departure he is anxiuosly awaiting so that he might move to Colorado and get a house in the mountains with my Mom. Erica and I have already been subtracted ("To college with them!", said he), and the remainder includes Wyatt and Jeff, who have several years yet. He is obsessed with bicycles, but has almost no time to spend on them these days due to his great love of work. What time on the weekends he does not spend on work he inevitably spends watching one of my brothers play soccer (or shuttling them to and from games). He likes to read books that don't require thought so he might be able to relax (one wonders why he doesn't just rest), but this is not as bad as my Mom, who reads books requiring negative thought, that is, books which actually suck intelligence out through the ocular socket. Yes, you guessed it! She reads those hundred page romance novels (more on this later)! So, at any rate, he likes to cook, bike, watch soccer (bro or pro), eat, do lawyer stuff at work, and keep the yard and house in reasonable shape. Actually, I don't think he likes that last item, but he likes to be less lazy than the rest of us.

Mom(a.k.a Maria, the EXAGERATOR (all caps), and the person-who-won't-tell-us-the-Read-Hunting-Jacket-story)
A miniscule amount of history-- My Mom is from Virgina, where she enjoyed knocking babysitters over with laundry-bags, and had some adventure/mishap with her brother Jeff and a red hunting jacket (she will not tell us this story). She went to Mount Holyoke college as an undergrad, then to Wash. U. for her MBA. 'Nuf said.

Current-- After entirely too many years of having kids and taking care of them, my Mom went back to work as a programmer. She currently works at National States Insurance Company, changing the date function in ALL of their files by herself. When she finishes, she expects to be able to get a big sallary from some desperate company using programs written in a language so old that very few people know it any more, and virtually no one still working (I do not know if I would be proud of this.) The millenium bug seems to be something of a gift for her. In her spare time, she reads these really pointless romance novels featuring uncharacters. It's like soap opera in book form. My sister tried reading these a couple of times, but was unable to stomach them. What's worse, my Mom is actually starting to write them!! I think she has one finished, three more in the works, and ideas for another. AAAHHHHH!!!! Why can't she just be normal and write Sci-Fi like me?

Friends

Here is a breif listing of my friends and their interests. More importantly, if you share their interests and/or location, there are links to their personal Homepages. I have even decided to insert a few suitably embarassing pictures as I realize that almost no one will ever come here to see them.

Brad-- My only real friend not in my grade. He is currently a senior at John Burroughs (my home school as well) and is planning, I believe, to apply to Indiana, Wash. U., and U. Penn. His current interests include Web-design, internet journalism, computer games (most notably Duke Nukem 3D), and fencing. He does not think highly of personal Home pages, so has none himself, but does have an e-mail address which I have been forbidden to put on this page. So here is his dad's e-mail address: Davidg@dgastl.com

John-- After many years of hard work John has finally acheived his dream, being a nerd at CalTech. My use of the word "nerd" is not derogatory, but complimentary. I wanted to be a nerd at MIT or Princeton, but was, unfortuneatly, denied my ambitions. At any rate, John reads more books in a week than the rest of his home "town" of Festus, MO., so if you want to know whether a certain book (especially Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Spy/Political thrillers) just ask him. He also plays computer games, but is relatively new to the internet. As a student, he also has an email address, which he has similarly forbidden me to include here...so I will put it in the games section--look under "Diplomacy", a game of which we are all big fans. He is a very good chess player, though not good at speed chess. He likes the 2-hour games more--not one for excitement, I guess.

Percy-- Percy is now studying...well, I don't really know, lets just say he is studdying, which may or may not be true...at U. of Chicago. He has dubious taste in music, and a lot of it (the music, not the taste)(Seal is not muzak!! I tried telling you this in my senior paragraph, but the editors apparently disagreed, and put "Seal is not music!", which, of course, was the opposite of the idea I was trying to convey. (I will not mention that I misspelled muzak as musac (thus confusing the issue) and that the editors returned the paragraphs for our perusal before publishing...DOH! (This is called praeteritio, in case you care)). Actually his music isn't so bad. Some of the things he listens to seem somewhat strange to me, but my only real complaint is that he doesn't like Seal. He probably knows a lot more about music than me anyway, so it is probably unwise of me to argue. He has played in the JBS jazz band for several years and is a master of the keyboard & piano. He has also taken up the guitar almost as a hobby. He also is a big fan of BattleTech™ and has donated a section of his page to the game, though I do not know if it is finished. He is, like almost all my friends, interested in computers and computer games as well (yes, including MECHWARRIOR2™).

David (Jimi)-- Like myself David is studying engineering and CS at Northwestern U. He is by no means my closest friend, and he has a habit of forwarding annoying e-mail, but I generally consider him my best friend, in the sense that he is the best of my friends at being a friend. He is patient and willing often to go out of his way to help you. He has opinions, but not comtempt for those who disagree with any of them, it seems. He has learned the lesson of self sacrifice better than any of us, I think, and for this he has gained my respect (I'm sorry if this sounds sappy). Sometimes he gets a little pushy (like before the Rusted Root concert!) and sometimes a little obsessive (Dream Theater, Star Wars books, and Pearl Jam), but such things tend to balance out and be forgotten (except maybe Pearl Jam-- I'm not sure if I can forgive that). Besides, every one can get annoying when they want some one to do something, and every one has their little obsessions (mine is Doom 2. As far as I'm concerned, nothing has come out since to rival it.)

Here is his homepage, which will now prove what I said about obsessions.
