The adventures near a wormhole on the edge of the final frontier. (setting -- the 24th century)
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine is set on an abandoned Cardassian Station. The station is in orbit of Bajor near a wormhole to the Gamma Quadrant. In this series we see much more of the Cardassians and Bajorans than in TNG. In the series we are also introduced to new species from the Gamma Quadrant including the Dominion. In this series less is seen of the Beta Quadrant powers (Romulans and Klingons) as DS9 is on the opposite side of the UFP and not much (maybe nothing) is seen from the Borg.
