A VULCAN BY ANY OTHER NAME...
(SUBIK, PHYSICIAN/INTELLIGENCE OFFICER, TAL SHIAR DOUBLE AGENT) ROMULAN MAJOR SYYTEK, OFFICER OF THE ROMULAN TAL SHIAR, MEDICAL OFFICER OF THE STARSHIP DEDOLAS LNT TAJ'QEQ, MEDICAL OFFICER

Subik felt the hot wind sting his eyes as he materialized on the planet's surface. Just three months ago he was on Romulas, resigned to living the rest of his life as a Tal Shiar officer, and now he was home on Vulcan, and disguised as a Klingon of all things.

"Officer Taj'Qeq," said a young Vulcan who approached him.

"Speak," Subik said, trying not to notice the way the Klingon hair he wore made the tips of his ears itch.

"No offense was intended, sir, I assure you," the young Vulcan began. By his demeanor he was probably raised on Earth or Rigel. Subik suppressed a sudden twinge of compassion for the youth, of Vulcan but not of Vulcan, not unlike himself. Subik's wife T'Praun came over to him, and growled at him, bearing her prosthetic teeth. Subik felt a slight rise in his blood temperature. He centered himself and continued. Subik felt around for the tricorder disks that had all the information he'd gathered on Romulas for the Federation, and found them where he expected.

His wife slinked up against him, and asked, "Are those the disks?"

"Yes," Subik said matter of factly.
"Don't question my orders again!" She yelled, then she punched him in the chest sending him to the ground. Subik did not move.

An elderly Vulcan saw the blow, and rushed over to the party, "I am the Healer of ShirKahr, please let me attend his wounds."

T'Praun scowled, then said, "Take the Petak, but have him back on my ship before we leave."

In the Healers office, Subik was approached by a young Vulcan woman. She said, "The wind on Vulcan is hot."

Subik replied, "Yes, but it is good to be home."

"Lieutenant Subik," she began. "I'm Ensign T'Voreth. I've been assigned to deliver these disks to you. Your new assignment is on this one. The others are blank."

"Good," Subik answered. "These are for Admiral Ratchet, please see that she gets them."

Once the Ensign was out of the way, Subik began to reflect on what had gotten him into his current predicament . Most likely, it was the way he had figured out who the Romulan sabature had been onboard the Stellar Wind. Several months back, Captain Devlin had come to him, during the trials of Commander Argent, because of his help in the Romulan matter. Starfleet needed information on a little known Romulan paramilitary group called the Tal Shiar. Subik, who had been suffering the effects of a bad mind-meld, agreed to contact his wife, a Romulan officer, and he was on Romulas within months.

Starfleet Intelligence had already been hard at work establishing a Romulan officer to afford Subik a cover in the Tal Shiar, all Subik had to do was show up and take the position. A problem arose when Subik showed up on the Romulan Vessel, Dedolas, there was a Tal Shiar officer onboard, who had been trying to find the defunct officer and had gone sofar as to take his duties. However, Subik's wife T'Praun, killed the Tal Shiar agent, so that Subik could take his place as Medical officer aboard Dedolas.

Over the last several months, Subik was able to gain the trust of several Tal Shiar members, and was eventually accepted into their ranks. He was a Vulcan double agent working on Romulas, sending information to Starfleet.

Subik put the disk he'd gotten from the Starfleet operative into his tricorder.

To: LTJ Subik
From: Chief of Operations, Starfleet

You are instructed to infiltrate ch'Rhailan, a Romulan disident world. You, or your Tal Shiar operative cover, have been ordered to the world, for purposes of subtrifuge. While there, you are to infiltrate the Mercenary Guild stationed in Havran Province. Your contact will meet you in the Gohl'Den Arboritum, near a bench in the far corner next a Saa'chikk bush.

GOHL'DEN ARBORITUM, CH'RHAILAN, NEAR
Subik walked down a corridor and took a look around the arboritum, it was not unlike many he'd been in in his one-hundred sixty years. It felt satisfactory not to have the constant itching from the Klingon hair he'd worn for more than a week. But his field of vision was slightly impaired by the prominant Romulan forehead he now wore.

A young Romulan spoke, "Are you Major Syytek?" He asked, looking for anyone else.

"I am," Subik answered, doing his Vulcan best to be haughty and arrogant, a perfect Tal Shiar operative.

"I'm Naurikk, I'm supposed to see you safely to the Havran Province."

"Of course you are," Subik truely sounded as if he were a Romulan, haughty, arrogant and full of himself ... Yes, very Romulan.
