Dr. Miranda Sabra Montgomery is a Human/Bajoran female, 5' 6", 1.68 meters tall with shoulder length black hair and blue eyes. She was born on Earth to Stuart Montgomery, a Starfleet Security Officer who was serving aboard the USS Melbourne when it was destroyed during the Borg conflict at Wolf 359, and Orlean Sabra, a Bajoran nurse who went back to Bajor several years after the Cardassians invaded. Until recently, Mira had no idea whatever happened to her mother.

Mira joined Starfleet because of her father's love for it. She became a doctor because of her mother's influence. Her interests include Metaphysics, combat sports and the Klingon style of exercise. She also enjoys Poker and classical music by various composers of all alien races.

Her father and she were very close when she was very young, but after her mother left, he became distant. They never completely settled their differences before his death. Mira has felt grief over this fact for many years.

After studying medicine at Starfleet Academy for eight years, she worked on Betazed where she studied alien medicine. While on Betazed she attended many functions and got to know their culture well. It was while on Betazed that she learned how to shield and control her thoughts to a certain degree. Though not telepathic, she is empathic to all her patients and friends and can usually tell when something is wrong with them before they tell her about it themselves.

Mira left the Betazed Medical Center after two years because she wanted something more challenging and felt that serving aboard a starship would provide that opportunity.

She served aboard the USS Kyushu for two years as Second Medical Officer and then aboard the USS Paradise for two years as Acting Chief Medical Officer. A few months before the Borg conflict, she took a position at Starbase 23 as Assistant to the Administrator of the Medical Department. She later learned while treating many of the survivors of Wolf 359, that along with the USS Melbourne, the Kyushu was also destroyed. She lost many good friends and comrades and grieved for her father, friends and comrades for a long time afterwards. She feels friendships very deeply and is fiercely loyal to her friends.

While serving aboard the Paradise and Kyushu, she went on many away team missions. On one such mission while investigating an uninhabited planet, her team and she became infected with an unusual type of virus which due to a transporter malfunction was not filtered out during transport. Due to her experience with infectious microorganisms, she was able to manufacture an antiviral and all but one of the away team survived. The one member she lost was due to the fact that she was a Vulcan and the virus acted much quicker on Vulcan blood. Because Mira was half Human and Bajoran, she did not get as ill as the other members and this gave her the time to find a cure.

On November 30, 2380, Mira married Cmdr. Simon Augustus McRaney, Chief Geologist on the Endeavour. They were married at her home on Earth. Simon is now a full Commander and the Chief Science Officer on Starbase 114.

In 2379 Mira discovered she had a half sister, Breena. Mira's mother, Sabra is also Breena's mother. Breena's father was a Bajoran resistance fighter. Both were killed on a moon of Bajor shortly before the Cardassians withdrew from Bajor.

Mira and Breena continue to keep in touch by subspace communications and visits whenever possible. Breena currently lives on Starbase 114 and is studying to become a nurse.

Mira's stepson, Parker has recently made Mira a grandmother by presenting Simon and her with a granddaughter, Sara Augusta, born on December 3, 2380.

Mira has written several papers on microorganisms and their effects on various alien species. Her most recent paper on nanite research was well received in the medical and scientific communities.

In 2382, Mira and her husband, Simon adopted Simon's biological son. One month later Mira discovered she was pregnant with a girl. She decided to transfer to Starbase 114 to be near Simon and her children and so left the USS Alliance. She and Simon now live there with their two children, Sam and Grace.
