Julia's Story
Dreamt by Nic, 7 June 1998
Finally, after months of lobbying the Sci-Fi
channel, our fondest
wish was granted. They were making
an Earth 2 movie! And not just
a television movie, either, this was a film
destined for the big
screen.
But to get the wider spectrum of viewers,
the film's writers had
decided to focus it upon the life of Julia.
Jessica Steen was a
big star, and producers hoped she would be
the drawcard. If the
movie was successful enough, it could lead
to another film
focussing more on all of Eden Advance.
This first one, though, was
going to be Julia's story.
I walked into the movie theatre with my sister
and we sat, prepared
to be stunned. I was so happy to be
seeing any new "Earth 2"
that I didn't even care if Devon and Morgan
(my favourite
characters) were barely in it, as long as
they were there.
The film started with a younger Julia on
the stations. Her
upbringing in the Council, the fierce mother
she'd had to live
with, and the pressures of society to succeed.
This young Julia
had little luck in love - her heart was broken
by a slimy young man
and she vowed to never trust another person
again. She had
resigned herself to being alone.
Along came Eden Project - and more of Julia's
heartbreak as she was
forced to spy on them. We saw the events
of "Earth 2" through
Julia's eyes and felt so much compassion
for her. One focus was
her struggle with emotions - to not only
accept herself but accept
another person's love for her. Alonzo's.
He proposed and Julia didn't know what to
do. (By this time in the
movie, I was dying to see what would happen
because Julia had been
through so many struggles and changes and
I wanted to see it turn
out alright.) Devon and Danziger had
an intense, whispered
conversation about Julia. They could
see that she was struggling
inside about what to do. Could she
finally let go of the pain of
the past and trust someone with her heart?
And was Alonzo that
person?
A fancy-dress ball was held (in VR), and
somehow, it was known that
Julia would announce her decision that night.
She was wearing
white, a beautiful dress for a bride-to-be.
Devon was in pale
lilac which somehow suited her really well.
Bess wore a yellow
evening gown and the men were in suits.
People danced, but everyone (including the
audience) was constantly
watching Julia. How her face changed
as she fought to decide her
own future.
And here comes the killer of the dream.
Julia stood tall, everyone
else sort of melted to the sides of the ballroom
to watch her
except for Devon, Danziger and Bess clustered
in the middle.
Alonzo was standing a little ahead of them,
close to Julia.
Julia didn't say a word, just took a purposeful
step forward, her
eyes shining steadfast blue and true.
This was it, when she sealed
her fate and took her destiny into her own
hands.
Julia walked straight past Alonzo and took
Bess into her arms and
kissed her. They made a beautiful couple
as they held hands and
walked off into the sunset together.
In the audience, we were gaping at the shock
ending. Obviously,
Julia and Bess had been seeing each other
for a long time!
Stunned, I woke up from the dream thinking,
"Where did this dream
come from???!!!"
Klingons and Cliffs
6 May 1997. Dreamt by Nic.
I was climbing a cliff on G889 with Danziger. To my horror,
he
kept ranting on about how honourable it would be to reach the top
and when I looked again, he had turned into a Klingon! ARGH!
Somehow, there was a rockslide. I crammed myself into a tiny
cave
to avoid the falling rocks and it was so scary. Danziger
the
Klingon got carried away. Then E* (from the E2 list) climbed
up to
rescue me and she gave me her special scented bath oils.
*Names have been left out to protect the innocent. I can't
help it
if people from the E2 mailing list (whom I haven't even met) wander
into my
dreams, can I?
The Demise of Devon
A short dream.
Nic, 28 November 1995.
Devon was in cold sleep. There was no getting her out.
And so the
years passed until all the original of Eden Advance died and still
Devon slept.
One day, though, she was released. The doctors could not
do a
thing for her and she died. She was buried beneath a dead
tree in
a stark, barren grey landscape. Amanda from Melrose Place
came
along and laughed, for Devon was finally dead. Amanda danced
on
her grave.
Real Estate on G889
Nic, 16 July 1997.
I decided to move to G889 - I was sick of
Earth. So off I set,
although I had to travel across the ocean
(rather than through
space) to get there. I wasn't the only
one with that idea. M had
also decided to go, and she and I ended up
with houses next to each
other.
All of the Edenites who had moved to G889
decided to go to the
inaugural Emmy awards. There were six
of us - M, C, D, A, M2 and
I. We all cheered when a Terrian got
the award for best special
effects - lightning related.
*g*
We all went back to our houses and then Devon
came along and told
us we'd settled on the wrong coast.
None of us cared because it
was really beautiful and Morgan and Bess
had decided to settle
there too. This made one of my neighbours
particularly happy!
* All the initials listed in this took the
form of E2 listmembers
during the dream. If you see your initial
and you're a regular
poster, then yes, it's you!
The Death of A World
Dreamt by Nic, 26 November 1997.
This was a really shocking, powerful and
intensely realistic dream.
I may turn it into a fanfic someday.
So allow me to copyright it!
On G889, the planet, and I was part of a horrifying vehicle chase
down a mountain. We had to get away or we'd be put into prison.
We were Eden Advance and Devon was still locked in cold sleep -
yet
the ship was in a lush green valley that was far behind us as we
raced to escape the Council.
Then everything stopped. We were on a small brown plateau,
upon
the edge of a forested mountain and as we stared to the horizon,
a
burning ball rose. It was so hot and so bright I was sure
it was
the sun, yet it moved too quickly for that. And then it exploded.
A nuclear shockwave seared across the landscape as we watched from
our high vantage point, able to see so far. Everything in
its path
was... obliterated - the trees, oh, the trees, the blue river,
the
ship in which Devon lay...
And the shockwave was coming for us.
We screamed and faced for the small shelter - if only we could
get
there in time - and those of us who made it huddled in terror.
But
Uly and Denner were still poised on the edge of the rock when the
wind of radiation struck and their bodies were instantly
obliterated into a million particles. It was horrifying and
shocking.
All of the land had been destroyed.
Never shall I forget that terrifying 'beauty' of the shockwave
as
it raced across the land, killing it, for it was beautiful in a
tragic way - that sun, the glory....
Goodbye, Devon...
I dreamt this
on 30 September, 1995 - the night I saw AAE for the
first time.
There were endless hours of frightening images of Devon and her
terrible, inescapable fate. I could feel her confusion and
terror
as she was shut away from the world forever, not knowing what was
happening but knowing that life would go on without her.
And somehow, she passed into the great river of life. Devon's
spirit merged with the stream as she raced past her friends, trying
desperately to hold on but she could not go back, she could never
go back. And she finally arrived in a place of beauty and
life.
