Julia's Story

Dreamt by Nic, 7 June 1998

Finally, after months of lobbying the Sci-Fi channel, our fondest
wish was granted.  They were making an Earth 2 movie!  And not just
a television movie, either, this was a film destined for the big
screen.

But to get the wider spectrum of viewers, the film's writers had
decided to focus it upon the life of Julia.  Jessica Steen was a
big star, and producers hoped she would be the drawcard.  If the
movie was successful enough, it could lead to another film
focussing more on all of Eden Advance.  This first one, though, was
going to be Julia's story.

I walked into the movie theatre with my sister and we sat, prepared
to be stunned.  I was so happy to be seeing any new "Earth 2"
that I didn't even care if Devon and Morgan (my favourite
characters) were barely in it, as long as they were there.

The film started with a younger Julia on the stations.  Her
upbringing in the Council, the fierce mother she'd had to live
with, and the pressures of society to succeed.  This young Julia
had little luck in love - her heart was broken by a slimy young man
and she vowed to never trust another person again.  She had
resigned herself to being alone.

Along came Eden Project - and more of Julia's heartbreak as she was
forced to spy on them.  We saw the events of "Earth 2" through
Julia's eyes and felt so much compassion for her.  One focus was
her struggle with emotions - to not only accept herself but accept
another person's love for her.  Alonzo's.

He proposed and Julia didn't know what to do.  (By this time in the
movie, I was dying to see what would happen because Julia had been
through so many struggles and changes and I wanted to see it turn
out alright.)  Devon and Danziger had an intense, whispered
conversation about Julia.  They could see that she was struggling
inside about what to do.  Could she finally let go of the pain of
the past and trust someone with her heart?  And was Alonzo that
person?

A fancy-dress ball was held (in VR), and somehow, it was known that
Julia would announce her decision that night.  She was wearing
white, a beautiful dress for a bride-to-be.  Devon was in pale
lilac which somehow suited her really well.  Bess wore a yellow
evening gown and the men were in suits.

People danced, but everyone (including the audience) was constantly
watching Julia.  How her face changed as she fought to decide her
own future.

And here comes the killer of the dream.  Julia stood tall, everyone
else sort of melted to the sides of the ballroom to watch her
except for Devon, Danziger and Bess clustered in the middle.
Alonzo was standing a little ahead of them, close to Julia.
Julia didn't say a word, just took a purposeful step forward, her
eyes shining steadfast blue and true.  This was it, when she sealed
her fate and took her destiny into her own hands.

Julia walked straight past Alonzo and took Bess into her arms and
kissed her.  They made a beautiful couple as they held hands and
walked off into the sunset together.

In the audience, we were gaping at the shock ending.  Obviously,
Julia and Bess had been seeing each other for a long time!
Stunned, I woke up from the dream thinking, "Where did this dream
come from???!!!"
