Colie asks...

My question concerns watchers. A friend was practising one day, and sent a watcher to my home. I did not mind this, but my poor mum! She broke out into shivers every time that thing came into the same room as she was in! I didn't say much to her about it, but she was convinced that "something" was there with her. When I found out that it was a friend, I asked him not to do it and told him why. For future reference, though, how would I get rid of someone's watcher? They don't bother me, but they sure do make my mother shiver!

Toni responded to Colie:

I've always felt that on some level a watcher, or ethereal being, had to be invited to enter. Maybe that's a residual from vampire cinema. I would think that consciously stating that you didn't want such beings in your home would change your subconscious from being so open to that as a possibility. To cement that decision both in your consciousness and in the space you live in you could cast a boundary around the house and/or create a protection ritual.

Owl also replies to Colie:

The realization that you are the one who allows whatever into your reality is a developmental thing. It may even be a karmic developmental thing. It is sort of like dismissing the Watch Towers. When you know, it becomes reality. The mother is pretty sensitive to other plane activity. The child has probably inherited this from her, thus the interest in Wicca. She must not have the knowledge that she can choose and or protect herself. He can tell her however, very often this is not a concept which is understood until the person is ready or figures it out for themself. Now, one doesn't have to have an interest in the occult for this, just strong personal power and the ability to trust intuition. I have experienced "watchers," it can feel a little strange. I have not tried to delve into why they are there or where they come from. Are they watching me or just part of the property? Strange isn't it. I've always known that they are watchers. They are not of the plane of existence which we are though. I've experienced that too. It's disconcerting becasue they have been just as astonished as I was, and trepiatious too.

Shockwave asks...

First I would like to know if there is black or white magic and if wicca can be dangerous. Second i would like to know if wicca and spells actually work. An in HOLLYWOOD they show people (witches and warlock) throwing fireballs and stuff out of there fingers and if u can actually do this is real life. Also which is more powerful out of white and black magic.

Toni answers Shockwave...

my thoughts on part of the question: "do wicca spells really work" I definitely don't feel qualified to make a comment for posting but here are some of the things that come to mind, maybe it can spark a discussion which might lead to an answer. "Do wicca spells really work" That depends on the individual(s). Rituals are characterized by repetition. Repetion alows knowledge and information to sink into ones subconscious levels from the level of waking consciousness. By performing rituals and spells we are merely conditioning our subconscious minds to pay attention to whatever we're spelling for. By paying attention more fully we then become aware of the opportunities and options which may have already been there when we began. So it may seem that we've created the opportunity when we've really just created awareness of an opportunity. Not to drag all the magic out of it, this is just a beginning way of explaining something that's hard to explain...... A beginning way of explaining because I think that's how it is in the beginning..... it works in reverse too: repetition also alows our subconscious ideas and desires to come to light, all in all the individual becomes more "self- actualized" I think it's all just the art of creating your reality and realizing your creations. If I say there are fairies in my flowerbed and I believe it then there are fairies in my flowerbeds, because I've spent the energy creating them, that energy becomes fairies (to me). Is it real you ask? If I can get one other person to believe it then it is larger than my being- because the thought is then shared between two beings. It now exists outside of my head and is "real" My intuition is that a wise and practiced witch has not only created his/her reality but also studied mythology- which is a creative reality that was shared by a society. That wise witch can draw not only upon his own creativity but has access to several archtypes of the over soul or the universal unconscious. We all have one share in the over soul, but when we have studied enough to broaden and narrow our perspectives to the... i'm really digressing here. babble babble do the spells work? depends....

Drakos of Drakenheim tells Shockwave....

Interesting that you ask if there is black and white magic along with is there magic. The black and white magic question is itself a magical product. First let me give Aliestar Crowely's definition of magic, (as it is widely used, and in my experience, accurate) "Magic is the Art and Science of causing change, in conformity with Will". So magic must 'cause change', and it must be what you wanted to do. (conformity with will) Well, once there was only magic, then the Catholic Church, in it's attempt at monopoly, claimed that all magic was evil. (black) People knew wise women, and healers that used magic. They knew they were not evil, or Catholic, so they said that they practiced 'white' magic. It was then that healing magic was white, any other practitioner of magic was 'dealing with the devil', and killing babies. (black) There was Change, in conformity with Will. When Wicca got it's resurgence, Witches claimed to practice 'white' or 'good', 'healing', magic. They would never practice 'black', 'destructive' magic. The power comes from within, no matter what the purpose. Think of a hammer, is it a tool, or a weapon? Magic is the same. As to the second question, let me ask you, have you ever seen, in person, anyone shoot fire out their fingers????? I know if I could, I WOULD!!!! I'd be rich! David Copperfield would be a has- been if I had hollywood magic! Get a grip!!!!

Rubemerald writes:

I love the Pagan and Wiccan beliefs and preform rituals myself. I have only >one problem... I have a very tight budget!!! What can I do to get or create >tools that doesn't cost a fortune? Thank you for your time.

LC WhiteOwl answers Rubemerald:

It has been writeen that during the inquisition, rural witches hid their tools amoung everyday things. (now this may be fictitious, but it works romantically for me.) So with this in mind you can look around your house or The Good Will or thrift shops to collect your tools. Censor - bowl or abalone shell with sand. Cup - A water goblet or a favorite mug. Athame - A paring knife. My first one was a black handled kitchen knife on which I painted my witch name in ruins. I still have it. (almost 30 years later). Pentacle - Make it by drawing it on paper or bending it out of some wire. Stars are easy to find at Yule. Even a coin can be used. My first was a kitchen trivot which cost a few dollars at an amuselemnt park. Paint and gold paint pens can go alone way to create illusion. Remember that your tools can be created astrally as well.

Cyberrrick asks

I would be someone that has been with the Christian Majority, believing that Pagans and Satan went hand and hand. Until today when I found out that someone that I come into contact with during work is a Pagan. Our too brief of a conversation has myself guessing about all I was ever told or viewed through movies. My question would be what is paganism, and where should I start to learn more about Pagans?

Mino replies

Paganism is a belief in many forms of deity. There are many pagan FAQ pages on the internet, so I won't duplicate alot of this information. As far as where to start, I would suggest some books about paganism. We have listed some of these books on our Bookstore Page at Click Here You can also find many of these at your local major bookstore. I was a christian minister before I discovered paganism, and thought much like you did. I have found a beautiful pathway through life, and it is tailored to MY OWN PERSONAL BELIEFS. Each person must do that, in my personal opinion. Satan is a christian creation written into ancient texts that were modified by Roman transcribers. He is a scapegoat to blame for all of our own short-comings. When you stop "serving" god through fear, and you realize that god is all around you rather than looking down from above, the way begins to clear. You also may find that it is easier to think of god as a female- or goddess. Wiccans view both god and goddess as valid forms. Pagans honor deities from many civilizations. Pagans believe in reincarnation for the most part....energy never dies, it only transforms. Have you lived before ? Perhaps. Do you feel Earth energy ? It is there. Are humans the only form of life that matters ? Absurd ! Do people tend to hate what they fear ? There are answers within our fears. How well do you know yourself ? What about yourself do you deny ? How do you communicate with Mother Earth ? How do you listen to her ? These are questions that many pagan paths seek to answer.

HazelFaery replied

Paganism is an Earth-based way of life, living in harmony with our surroundings as we honour Mother Earth as the Goddess and Father Sun as the God. We see them continually dancing through the "wheel of the year" as our holidays are tuned into the cycles of nature, celebrating the seasons and the things we want to cultivate in our lives. We have no acknowledgement of any supreme evil "devil" or all powerful "god" as the common terms and religions define them. Indeed, paganism is much older than that. We do magick to heal, others and ourselves as well as magick to help us grow and help out our life situations. We NEVER seek to curse, or seek revenge because of the credes we follow : "Harm no one, do as you will" and "Everything you send out returns to you 3-fold". Recommended reading would be: Earth, Air, Fire, Water by Scott Cuningham, as well as The Truth about Witchcraft Today, by the same author. Blessed Be in your quest to learn the truth for yourself :)
