God is universal. Religions are equal but separate pathways we choose to travel to learn of ourselves, and to seek God. Earth is our home. It provides us Nature's bounty, and we in return should nurture it. And there is but one Tribe of people here on Earth. They are called the Human Race.

From Our Vantage Point

September 8th, 1996

We believe the reason that white America does not understand how deep the wound of racism cuts is because it has no vantage point from which to view its devastating impact.

We would like to offer these comparative vantage points, which we hope will help to bring this issue into focus for white Americans.

If a child is molested, when the molestation stops, the body heals. The mind does not heal, and the pain continues because the wound was to the soul of the human being.

If a woman is raped, when the crime is over, the body heals. The mind does not, and the pain continues because the wound is to the soul of the human being.

When this nation was colonized, many Native Americans were killed and herded like cattle onto reservations because of who they were. The killing eventually stopped; the wounds of the body healed. But the mind did not heal, and the pain lasted for generations because the wound was to the soul of the human being.

When Adolf Hitler rounded up the Jews and killed millions because of who they were, the killing eventually stopped. The wounds of the body healed. The wounds of the mind did not, and the pain lasted for generations because the wound was to the soul of the human being.

When this nation enslaved and killed blacks because of who they were the killing eventually stopped and now slavery is over. The wounds of the body healed. The mind's wounds did not, and the pain lasted for generations because the wound was to the soul of the human being.

We all must realize that racism is a cancer that feeds on the soul.

We believe that in order to cure human maladies we must first understand the depth of the wound.

We hope that you have found it helpful to see this problem from our vantage point.
