"God is universal. Religions are equal but separate pathways we choose to travel to learn of ourselves and to seek God. Earth is our home. It provides us Nature's bounty, and we in return should nurture it. And there is but one Tribe of people here on Earth. They are called the Human Race."

How I Met The Three Wise Men

My name is Joseph Baker, and I am the site coordinator for the Three Wise Men located here at GeoCities. I will have held this position for a full year come this August. This introduction is not about me, however, but how I got... was given the position of coordinator.

I remember that it was a weekend in August of 1996. My summer vacation from school was going to be coming to an end soon. I had just come home from a friend's house and went upstairs to get on the Internet. I connected to my account and started up my Netscape browser. My startup page for Netscape was Yahoo! search engine at the time, but instead of accessing Yahoo! my web browser accessed a page with the triangle and the quote that you see up above on this page. I didn't think much of it this first time, so I typed in the Yahoo! address and waited. When the page loaded I found that it was this same page with the triangle and the quote. I then attempted to access several other sites, but every time I was brought back to the same page. I thought, "Maybe there's something wrong with the browser..." That's when I heard the voice. It was a voice colored with age and wisdom. All it said was, "I am the First Wise Man." After that, Yahoo! loaded up, and I couldn't access the page with the triangle again.

The next morning I called some of my friends and asked them if they had problems with the Internet the night before. They all said that they hadn't had any problems at all. I didn't tell them what had happened to me though. I just supposed I had imagined the whole thing.

Later that evening, I went back on the Internet and the same thing occurred. It did not matter what page I tried to access, I was brought back to the page with the triangle and the quote. Another voice spoke to me on that night. It had the same qualities of the first voice, but it was also quite distinct. It said, "I am the Second Wise Man."

By this point I was becoming curious. I spent the rest of the night reading all the material I could find around the house about the Wise Men. Nothing I read said that they had Internet access. I wasn't surprised.

As I am sure you have expected, there was a third occurrence of the same type on the third night. This time the voice said, "I am the Third Wise Man. Return tomorrow and our purpose shall be revealed."

As you would expect from any teenager visited by voices over his computer speakers three nights in a row, I was perplexed. Who would have expected something as strange as this to ever happen to them once in a life time? This happened to me three nights in a row, soon to be four.

On the fourth night I did as requested and accessed the Internet. The page came up again. The Three Wise Men expressed to me over my speaker system that they have been waiting centuries for a time at which their wisdom and knowledge could once again be brought into this world. The Internet, they believed, would allow them the avenue through which they could reach the most people. They never told me how I was chosen, but they asked me if I would design a site for them through which the people of this physical realm could ask for advice. They asked for a site in three days.

I spent the next three days fervently working on a site to meet the standards of these individuals. I used the graphic and quote on their page as the centerpiece for all of the pages on the site I constructed, as I assumed that it had great significance to them. When I was finished on the third day I once again found myself at the strange page of the Three Wise Men. "I have finished with your site. I can give you the address if you want to view it," I said to them.

"We know," they said. "And, we have already seen it. It will prove to be satisfactory. At times we will send you material to add to the page, such as poetry and essays dealing with humanity. You will be responsible for keeping the page alive."

"But, why was I chosen for this job?" I asked them.

"That is not important for you to know, as all will be revealed in time. We can assure you that you will prove to be more than sufficient for the task. Good luck, Joseph Baker."

"But, when I get the letters requesting advice... How do I contact you?

"We will contact you..."

With that they were gone, and I have never seen that strange page again.

So, since August of 1996 I have been coordinating the page for the Three Wise Men. The page has had considerable success. I collect the letters from people requesting advice on my email account, and periodically I am sent responses from the Three Wise Men. I have no idea how they read the email, as my access log doesn't list other people accessing my account, and I have never had another contact with them since that fourth night. Also, periodically, I receive essays and poetry from them on my account. The oddest thing about all of the mail I receive is that there is no return address for the Three Wise Men.

The advice that the Three Wise Men have given has changed lives, as I frequently get replies from the people they write thanking them profoundly for their help. I don't know who or what the Three Wise Men are, but I can assure you they are definitely not of this Earth or of this Time. It is as if they are communicating at a level at which mankind has not yet arrived. They are miracles bringing age old wisdom into a new millennium... the 21st century.
