this is for becky

ascension
by rhiannon macgregor

on errant feet, from surer paths I stray
into the oldest secrets of mankind.
enlightenment shall guide me on my way
as winking doubts escape my wearied mind.

though as my step becomes both tried and true
as only learned walkways may inspire,
new, unknown roads will only help renew
the dwindling embers of creation's fire.

and for my labored ramblings may I know
more of god and man and things divine
than any human being should be shown
as angels whisper secrets so sublime.

as though in peace, shall my heart upward soar
to rest against god's bosom evermore.
