beguiled
by rhiannon macgregor
oft in contemplation I am compelled
you have stitched up all the pieces of my heart
your laughter fills my ears with angels singing,
in adoration I lay down my life
within your love I gladly live beguiled
about this poem:
this poem, written on 9/7/99, was written in adoration of my niece, mary, who continues to be my muse and my reason for waking up in the morning. i am consistently beguiled by her charm and nature.

home
to watching you in unabated bliss
and wonder at which deed I have excelled
in order to deserve a child like this
once shattered by anothers thoughtless care
and walled yourself within each single part
until there's only you and and I in there
your tears define the objects I despise
throughout my life your spirit goes on ringing
your questions make my ignorance seem wise
to keep you safe from all and sundry harm
in so doing my destiny is rife
with oft requited love and boundless charm
blessed by god above with such a child
