when a man loves a woman
by rhiannon macgregor

and thus he loved with careless joy
abandoning all mankind forbade
and told of his love, like a toothless boy,
of the pleasure he found in his hapless maid
without a care he flouts discretion
enfranchising the yearnings he meets
and looses them in profound confession
upon the passers-by he greets
and they in boundless envy display
disdain for such a public discourse
yet he continues on in his public array
espousing his love to his witless consorts
a jester to some, madman to the rest
doubtless in love, madness can be most blest
