before the temple
by rhiannon macgregor

i wept before god,
enamoured of creation,
the howl, the cry, the call, the whisper,
and the rumble of it's heart beneath me.

i cried out to the clouds,
mesmerized by the echoing hillside,
the silent vigil,
and the breeze on which those percussions flew.

i strode upon the verdant hillside
inspired by the power beneath me,
above me, beside me,
and her bounty of devotion.

i knelt before the temple,
bewitched by her song,
the heat of the sun on my cheeks,
and it's power to warm my very soul.

i lifted to the sky a visage of pure delight,
entranced by the notion of existence,
humbled by it's majesty,
uncertain, but heedless, of my place in it.
