tomorrow
by rhiannon macgregor

just as i was drowning
in my rain-drenched soul
you appeared before me
and brought back curiosity.
there was more about you
i wanted to know than i had
ever bothered or cared to learn
about myself.
quickly i recalled what it was
to feel...just to feel.
soon there was purpose, and
with that came a reason
to wake up tomorrow.
you're not here now, but
you're close...and you've
rekindled the spark in me
that wonders what will come
tomorrow that will make me want
to wake up forever.

about this poem:

i don't write free verse very often because i'm not all that in love with it, and i don't think i'm very good at it. i think there are some wonderful poets out there writing free verse, but this is one of the few that made it this far for me. it's just not my best work.
