response to 'where shall i go'

by rhiannon macgregor

how did you choose when paths were split before you?
in choosing, did you contemplate the cost?
how now that you should reexamine virtue
when all you've gained has issued from my loss.
upon our trusts you cast a darkly pallor,
memory served you not when called upon,
is it my burden now to pretend valor
and leave ignoble deeds to days long gone?
verily, i would have stayed my actions
that settled tight the noose about my throat
but you had moved upon some new attraction
and i was left with words you never spoke.
in silence you consented my farewell
with silence i remit your soul to hell.

about this poem:

in response to the dark & morose "where shall i go" i tried to let myself off the hook in a response. it didn't work. :)
