Deep within the darkling gloom,
I sit and ponder in my room,
while visions of her do fill my mind,
with dreams of dark tresses and eyes good and kind.
Without her I would be a loss,
On life's stormy seas battered and Tossd
But she is mine and I am hers
and in the night each heart loves and stirs.
-------John Cameron, 1998
Here is the second posting, by one of my Academy neighbors:
sat at the window.
It was open.
A storm was coming.
I listened to it
come.
The lights were out.
I leaned on the window,
and smelled the
wind.

(sorry I misspelled your name out front):
I'm feeling as though time is passing through me
while I take up space
Unable to move to higher ground
as the flood rivers race
To swallow me whole like I was never
To make no difference at all in the scheme of forever.

This is the fifth posting, one of my own.
It's a sort of narrative rhyme, about the things that go on
in our chatrooms here at Geocities.

This is the sixth posting, By Martin Beebe. I posted this poem out front because I wanted to generate some debate, and also as a reminder to both sides of the relationship fence that
sometimes both partners need to do better.
Marriage
Do you take this woman? For better, for worse?
To love her, to cherish her, and respect her? Of course!
A contract made in "Heaven." Part of "God's Plan."
To build a nest for babies and the growing of children
Do you take this man? He's promised you, his mate.
Every thing you want. A really good deal. Seals his fate.
His "Queen" you are now. His boss, you'll become.
A tribute he'll pay, with lots of income.
No need to worry, you've done your job.
No work for you either, it's up to that slob.
Put your feet up, lean back, no sweat, you'll require.
He'll do it all now. So you can retire.
Money comes and goes, like the tide on a beach.
He earns it. She spends it. To save it, out of reach.
He works very hard, he has a plan.
Not one, but many bosses. Be a business man.
"My help in the office? You want? Yes, OK!"
She produced a list. What she'll do in the day.
Bankers' hours, she wanted to keep.
Not one bit is offered, to reduce the heap.
She's up all night, reviewing the soaps.
Or reading romance books, for the latest gropes.
Sex if she feels like it. A grant, that's nice.
The tribute at bed time, a kiss will suffice.
TV and hockey, what a combination!
It's what is needed to unite the nation.
Gretsky's real. A really great ham.
She'd love to get a piece, from that man.
The soaps, she prefers. Romance books too.
And hockey on TV, for sexual glue!
The stories she believes, are all invented.
Her life is "TV," after all, it's interacted!
Hang up a shingle, money flows like a river.
Men go through affairs, like arrows in a quiver.
A puck in a net! She would screech, she would shout.
Jump up and down, wave her arms all about.
"You're supposed to make me happy and pay for it all."
"You're supposed to provide children and grovel, and fall."
"I married you buddy, you have to make it great."
"Marriage, after all, is a women's welfare state!"
-----------Martin
Here is the first rebuttal to Martin's poem on marriage:
Here are my views on that Marriage poem:
I do not believe that it is correct. Maybe it is in the eyes of a man, but not from a woman's point of view. Marriage is not a woman's welfare state. Marriage is completely give and take, love and compassion, fighting and making up. It is not give and give, and it's not take and take. I do think that some parts of that poem are accurate, but not much of it.
Take care of yourself and God Bless!
Love Always,
Amber Michelle Kennemer :-)
Thanks for your opinion, Amber! I welcome any other answers to the above poem!
Here is the posting from July 11, 1998 By Amber Kennemer:
FORGET HIM
Forget his name,
forget his face.
Forget his love
and warm embrace.
Forget his love
that you once knew.
Remember now,
there's someone new.
Forget the love
that you once shared.
Forget the fact
that he once cared.
Forget the time
you spent together.
Remember now,
he's gone forever.
Forget the times
they played your song.
Forget you cried
the whole night long.
Forget how close
you always were.
Remember now,
he belongs to her.
Forget you
memorized his walk.
Forget the way
he used to talk.
Forget the way
he used to say (I love you)
Remember now,
he's gone away.
Forget the times
he used to phone.
Forget the nights
you spent alone.
Forget he had
you in a whirl.
Remember now
it's the other girl.
Forget his gentle
teasing way.
Forget you saw
him yesterday.
Forget the things
you used to do.
Remember now,
she loves him too.
Forget the thrill
when he walked by.
Forget the times
he made you cry.
Forget that he
was your love true.
Remember now,
he's not for you.
Forget he was
your only love.
Forget you wished
on the stars above.
Forget the time
he said he'd wait.
Remember now,
he's loves hate.
Forget the times
you once had.
Forget it,
though he made you sad.
Forget he was
your greatest friend.
Remember now,
this love must end.

Here is the posting from October 13, by Jen:
#1:
I remember when I thought you were mine,
You said I was yours, your one and only,
I'm lonely all the time now, but you don't care,
There was no one else I ever wanted to be around,
I know now that everything you said and did was a lie,
All the other guys I like just use me and leave,
I try to explain the pain I feel inside,
The scars I bare show the pain I felt in the past,
There is no one I know who is like me,
You taught me to be what I am today,
There are so many things I wish I'd gotten the chance to say,
#2:
You call me names but have you looked at yourself?
You get in my way because you don't like how I look,
You put me down to make me want to cry,
"It takes one to know one" as the childish saying has taught,
You think you hurt my feelings by staring at me mean,
You treat me like shit when your friends are around,
You don't even know me, and I'm glad you never will,
I can think of nothing wrong that I have done,
I will take what you put me through for now,
You go on thinking that you are better than me,
I treat others how I like to be treated,
So hurt me if that is what you really want to do,
I hope you like them...
Thanksgiving Rant
But do they? Some people must make do with hash.
We sit here, secure, and stuff ourselves silly,
Or nothing.
Hail to the harvest! Let it fill us with joy,
To let others partake of our thanksgiving food.
To make US wait in line, in the poor part of town.
So let us be thankful, for that is the reason,
Be he Yahweh, or Allah, or Cernunnos, or Trang
And that we remember to help them,
-------MWBailey
We walk in a wonderland, you and I,
Then with sled on the hill, we survey the land
Building a fort, a castle of snow,
Tristan or Siegfried, what sluggards were they!
But then, the light fades, to cold starry night,
I dream of this place, that dwells in my heart

"OZIUM AND MANDOS AM I, LOOK UPON --John J. Macassar
Thanks, John. That leaves me
I used to hug and kiss you all the time.
You used to kiss me and I'd never feel lonely.
Even though you promised me you'd always be there.
Only you made me feel like I was floating off the ground.
Happy memories faded, washed away by the tears that I cry.
"Someday it will get better" I'm told to believe.
But no one understands what I confide.
Because I am different, I'm made an outcast.
And I don't think that there ever will be.
Then you changed and went away.
Now I pay for those lost opportunities everyday.
You want to hurt me, do you think I don't hurt myself?
I wish you knew better than to judge the cover of a book.
But you won't defeat me, I don't care how hard you try.
Since you act like a child, maybe you should give that meaning some
thought.
All just so you can boost your own self-esteem.
But someday, from your pedestal, you will fall down.
The way you treat me is shallow and takes no real skill.
Yet you continue to treat me like I am no one.
But you will be repaid for your cruelty some how.
Even though I'm different, I'm how I want to be.
You do not, so in the end you will be defeated.
But remember, everything done will eventually come back to you.
Thanks, Jen!

Turkey and dressing and sweet pumpkin pie
Bread made of whole wheat, and flour, and rye,
Cranberry jelly, yams and potatoes,
All of the things that everyone knows.
Some have nothing but teeth to gnash,
Some have never heard of pilgrim's plight
And some cower fearfully, as bullets take flight.
And rush about preparing, dashing willy-nilly.
We forget, in the heat of the harvest-time rush.
That some in the world must make do with mush ---
But let's not forget, somewhere there's a boy,
Or a girl, or a whole family, That could use some good food,
Or seven, or three; lets try not to waste, and remember 'tis good
Let us share, without grudging, for there is a truth,
Bad luck and circumstance can bring down
The best of us, and break our sweet crowns
After all, for this time of the season, that
We should bow down, and thank our creator
For the harvest of plenty
Or some Supreme Being, or the Awesome Big Bang,
Let bow down in worship, and thank them for plenty
And pray that we remember those whose bellies are empty ---
As someone once helped us.
Once upon a time, in a quiet place,
Snow falls thickly, and in its space
Children play happily, in winter's glow
and wassail bubbles merrily on the old wood stove.
and pass to the table, by and by
Heaped with vittles, all manner of food
and nary a thought but "HEY! This is good!"
as we intrepidly prepare, the hill to descend
then whooping and screaming, we rocket along
and sail over the creek like a sleigh in a song.
Firing salvos of white stuff, and enjoying the glow
of winterlight battlejoy; it sings in our veins --
The music of fantasy, sweet honor-strains.
Who only went soujourning, pounding the clay.
We vaunters, who fight in the winter's white glare
meet our imaginary foes, with steely hard glare.
and down the hill we must go, to the fire's cheery light.
with cocoa and cookies, we proudly declare
of our glory and valour, and just who got socked where.
of my heart and my soul, it is an inseparable part.
Here in Snow's Heaven, I will abide
Til we come to the end of holiday's tide.

I watch your nose as it sneezes

brown travesties in the autumn of our ignorance.
"THE BANJOS ARE COMING! THE BANJOS ARE COMING!"
Screams the Utter Plunkett.
MY NETHER PARTS AND GENUFLECT!"
with such orations are our nights resplendent,

utterly speechless. No, really...
I lost the original poem about chat rooms;
it has gone down the cyberdrain, apparently.
Here is, I hope, a replacement:
Reflections On a Chat room, Part II
Cigars, and kisses, and virtual beer;
just a few of the things that go on in here.
Adventurers swash buckles, and dragons fly,
While horned dilemmas go prancing by.
Debaters grinding axes, maidens with mace
Though we never see one another, we imagine the face,
of a long-distance lover, or a countenance fair
while bombs and beer glasses fly through the air,
'Tis not always a picnic; it can be pure hell,
and some still remember when darkness fell.
Adversaries square off, and some return never
And the admins stand by, guarding the lever.
Forests and castles spring up without warning,
and while one day is done, another's yet dawning.
Nighttime for some, and midday for others
it'd all be the same day, if we had our 'druthers
Lovers meet, lovers part, and friends sit and talk
of everything, nothing, and "who's got the walk?"
Here's a glass of the best, whatever you're having,
A toast, a right good one, to bless your good trav'ling!
Heres to chatters and friends, far away yet still close
We're the new cyber breed, the minds with the most!
We'll sit and talk 'neath the trees, watching images fly -
While horned dilemmas go prancing by....
