Part 7: Out of Breath
By Sam Wildman

Jerry tried to look about her, wild with fear. Johnny, she thought frantically. Johnny, baby, where are you?

"Mommy! Mommy, I want Mommy!" cried a little boy.

"Johnny? Johnny!" she screamed, then fell into a fit of wheezing.

"Mommy!" the little boy cried.

Dizzily, Jerry led her daughter towards the voice of the child. "JOHNNY!"

"Mommy? Mommy, where Johnny?" the little girl asked?

"I don't *wheeze* know *wheeze* Jon*wheeze*na," she answered between wheezes.

The little boy called again and through the dimly lit mall, Jerry realized she was in front of the arcade. Her vision was blurring a bit and it was harder for her to breath. But the voice was clearer now and coming from the arcade.

"Mommy!" yelled a little boy who ran out of the arcade.

She swept him in her arms and cried as did he and little Jonna. The happy moment ended too soon. She collapsed to the floor.

The last thing she heard was the little boy yell once more, "Mommy!"
