Purpose

What is the point to me authoring a site about literature? Simple. I think that people should read more often; especially people my age. Read the classics! Find out why they became classics AND why books will always outdo television in quality.
I, personally, don't read nearly often enough, but I like to keep in mind that knowledge acquired by literature allows for more than cultured opinion and prestige. It helps people get through college, as literary allusions are used every day and in every form of entertainment we claim.

But what ARE the classics?

Here I have listed a few of my recent favorites:

The Scarlet Letter - Hawthorne is a personal favourite of mine. In his literature, such as The Scarlet Letter, he addresses countless social issues that exist even today.WARNING: Hawthorne's writing is awefully wordy.
Crime and Punishment - Speaking of social issues. Dosteovsky artfully enters the hall of human conscience in this thrilling novel about Russia's lower class.
Anna Kerinina - Straight from the master Leo Tolstoi. It is much shorter than War and Peace. Recommended reading.
