Marissa's Music Preferences

For those of you who have visited this page before, it is probably evident that the page has changed and so have I! I suspect that I've been hit by the soul train of the 90s and that's why I've become so enamored with soulful and passionate artists like Tori Amos, Nine Inch Nails, and the Cranberries. Even with such an infatuation I still ingest healthy doses of nostalgia on a daily basis:) College is going to be the BEST! From my understanding, I will have plenty of opportunity thus to view new and independent artists in the cafe atmosphere! I hope that you enjoy this page--its commentary, its musical recommendations, and its links.

Women of Soul

Have you ever seen Seinfeld and the episode where they decided that Elaine was a "Man's Woman?" Well, I did and I thought that was me...a logical chick who likes to hang out with guys and go crazy for everything but sympathy. I had a hard time identifying with other females on a personal level until I looked at my CD collection and got out my Tori Amos, Melissa Ethriidge, Sarah McLachlan, and Nicole Campbell CDs. As I avoided reeling into "la-la" land, I noted how much passion the women were able to put into their songs. I noticed how beautiful the expression was. This women are certainly worth your time, so go visit their webpages or buy a CD. I'll place my favorite album title after their names:

Annie Lennox (Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams") She really knows how to rock out with the boys.
Melissa Ethridge (self-titled album)
Sarah McLachlan ("Building a Mystery")
Tori Amos ("Crucify") I owned my first Tori CD when I was 13, Good Stuff!
k.d.lang ("All You Can Eat")
Jewel ("Spirit")
