SUMMER 97
I thought more networking options should be open to the Pagan community and the readers of The Rune and I figured that there were at least two good ways to accomplish this objective. The first would be a personal's type of page. The second would be a guide to the web, with personal web pages of local Pagans, and the locations of other wonderful resources on the web. I wrote a short note to the editor and she said that was a wonderful idea, but that no one on staff had any extra time to do this type of project. So here I am.
Hi all. Welcome to the second installment in what I hope will be a long-standing feature in The Rune . I have been doing some major work on my web page recently. I have posted my last article, made all the links, added a section with FAQ links for those coming across my page with little knowledge of Wicca, and I have also made it possible for all of you to fill out the Personals form online so you don't have to mess with a stamp!! It has been a lot of hard work but I am thrilled that I got it all done. If you have any topics you would like to see covered here, please don't hesitate to let me know. I look forward to hearing from you out there and I hope that you are as excited about this new feature as I am.
Welcome to the third installment in my series on networking. I have been doing some more work on my web page, I have posted my previous article, made all the links. This issue I would like to do something that is a combination between an editorial and what you have come to expect from my past articles. I look forward to hearing your comments and ideas regarding the issues I raise here. To read my editorial, click here. (This link is not working yet.)
Hello. In this article, I try to give you different ways to make networking connections arround the city and through the Internet. This issue, I am concentrating on Festivals.
I want to take this chance to thank all the people who have visited my web page, and especially those who took the time to sign my guest book. I haven't had a chance to get back to you all personally, but I am doing my best and I just wanted to pass on my gratitude.
We have 2 new ads from people looking for others for specific reasons, Take the time to check them out. They were both entered through my web page, and I want to thank them for their intrest.
I thought that I had transfered all the information from my last article to my web page but I just found out that that never actually happened so I have now added all the information from this article and the winter article to my web page and it should all be good to go. Please note that I have only made links to the main pages that I did most of my research from. I have not linked to the individual pages of each of the eighteen festivals. In the three main linking pages I used in this article I estimate there to be over 100 festivals listed, including those overseas.
Special Note
Following is a partial copy of an e-mail I received regarding a new option for local Networking. This holds great promise and I hope we can all do our part to make sure this succeeds. We need something like this around here and the only thing I have against it is that I didn’t come up with the idea myself.
Come meet fellow Kansas City area pagans at Pagans' Night Out! Taking place on the third Saturday of every month.
There is no membership, and newcomers and children are always welcome. If you are apprehensive about meeting people, or what to expect, contact me at ilmatar@mailexcite.com, and I will tell you more about PNO and arrange to introduce you to some people with similar interests.
A website for Pagans' Night Out is available at http://members.xoom.com/kspagan/nightout.htm.
They also have plans for a Pagan Pride Day on Saturday, September 19th 1998. Details about this event can be found at http://members.xoom.com/kspagan/.
If you have any ideas about how to improve this page, please write to me. Also, if you want to submit your personal information for any (or all) of the following listings, please fill out the Personal's form (or a reasonable facsimile) and send it to Serena Gale in care of The Rune or feel free to e-mail it to me at serena@cybergal.com
SUMMER 97
In this issue I have decided to concentrate on two subjects; large organizations and local groups, and linking circles. The large organizations and local groups list will be a handy grouping for the big organizations we all need to contact occasionally. Linking circles are wonderful places to get a feel for the web and see many different pages. The only drawback is that many of the pages you see have such good links, that if you start to explore the links on each page, it can take you a month to get through the circle! Many pages belong to more than one circle and all the circles I have listed are Pagan or Pagan friendly circles. There are thousands of circles on the web with a thousand different topics. These circles are some of the more popular ones with a Pagan or Wiccan theme.
In this issue I am listing my top ten favorite Pagan sites on the Internet in ten different topics. This has been a difficult thing to narrow down but I think that you will agree that these sites offer something new and different and that they are very useful to the average "Techno-Pagan". Look them over and tell me what you think and if you know of a site that I overlooked , please don't hesitate to nominate it for a future edition of Working The Web. In the future I hope to take a closer look at each of these categories and list the other great sites that I wasn't able to list as "Best".
In this issue I had planed on investigating online covens. Unfortunately, I had a hard time trying to find them when I needed them and even though I had seen them in the past I wasn't able to find enough of them in time to meet my deadline. Therefore I have decided to change my topic to review some of the books of shadows that I found on my previous jaunts around the web. If you will remember, In my previous article, I did my Top Ten List and at that time I said that there were several pages that I really wanted to review, but I could not consider them the best. Since that time I have come across even more BOS's and several of them are worth their weight in gold. Please take the time to check out these three sites, as there is a lot of information that may be new to you, even if you have been practicing for many years.
This issue, I am concentrating on Festivals. I am going to give you some information about some of the festivals that are within a reasonable distance, contact information and some Internet pages where you can get more details. If you know of any festivals that I may have left out, by all means, contact me and I will try to get the information published in the next issue.
“Money is the root of all evil, that is why I spend it as quickly as possible!” This is one of my favorite sentiments and the perfect excuse to shop. But with the internet, you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your own home to spend your money. There are hundreds of Pagan shops on the net and I will list here a few of the better ones I found.
