Cave II
SPACE It has become increasingly difficult to see through the thick rain that falls over you, muddying the beach.
SPACE Conner and Gahiji begin their work on the chest they dragged up shore, Conner disappearing into the cave. Alasdair has made his way into the stretch of ocean that separates him from the cave, having picked up a length of wood he seems to be using for support as a staff.
SPACE Tharg has entered the water, and Alliandra is not far from him. Kavan is also nearing the ocean’s salty embrace.
SPACE Garn and Grant make their way towards the water, Sable in tow. She is obvious very weak and relies on her two friends to carry her across the wet sand.
SPACE Wyndra lingers behind, gathering up the last of the clothing, as well as some driftwood.
SPACE Suddenly, Tharg sprints for the opposite beach, dropping most of what he was carrying to increase his speed. He also produces what appears to be some sort of weapon as he goes. Kavan notices the big man’s haste and breaks into a run of his own, passing Alliandra in the process.
(DM: Most of you are doing very well. I do have a few character complaints, but nothing I can’t live with. Just a couple of things…
1. In case you haven’t noticed, the game isn’t being played exactly as the example plays I posted in the rules portion of Urthania’s intro. Once you are all together in the same spot and I figure out who still wants to play and who is still going to be allowed to play, I will give out everyone’s e-mail addresses so that you may all converse freely during the week.
2. I am going to start out with requesting courtesy copies of all inter-player conversations, though if they become too numerous I may ask you to stop doing so. Reading through your conversations may help me figure out what you are looking for in “life” and it will definitely better serve characterization. We’ll see what happens with that. In the next few weeks, play will pretty much get back to how I intended it; just like the example plays I posted in Urthania’s intro page.
3. Also, in your reply turns this week, I would like you all to add a critique. I feel the game is progressing fairly well, but your opinions matter more than mine. Let me know.
4. I am wanting to put up a player’s page for Urthania. It would include character’s names, descriptions, personalities, and other interesting tidbits of information. It will also include a status section for injuries and the like. I would also like to include the real names of the players, their place of residence, and a picture of them (if available). What do you think of this? I would also consider putting up pictures of the characters themselves, if you all wanted to find/create pictures to represent your respective characters. (Though I don’t like to do that, as everyone usually ends up stealing pictures of characters from Dragonlance, Forgotten Realms, etc., etc. and not every mage can look like Elminster, right?)
5. Lastly, I have an unfortunate situation. I have found I am cutting corners to finish getting turns posted. This is very unfair to those of us who expected high quality in the literary aspect of Urthania. I may have to begin cutting a few characters. I’m hoping that once all characters are in the same place, hearing and seeing the same things, play will get much more fluid. (Also, the quality of the generic turn will increase when I am only writing one turn and sending out ten detail listings instead of writing ten full turns every week…)
