Urthania

Cain & Cyrdan

SPACE The two of you crouch low, analyzing the events leading up to this point, and continue to watch the humans. They know of the elven death rites, laying their fallen friend in the jungle clearing rather than burying or burning her body, so they must be Fae-Friend. They also seem to be confused and even scared of the shrine.
SPACE You both know of Ochretia, the arachnid queen depicted in the statue. You also know that a tribe of her Hobyah* followers lives nearby. The humans seem to be oblivious to that fact, as they travel alone through the jungle.

SPACE You mirror their movement through the jungle, Cyrdan even pauses to say a prayer to Necrynn, elven god of afterlife, when the warrior lays the female elf to her final rest.
SPACE When they leave, you tail them; a little too close, it seems, as the warrior named Garn stops midway back to the beach and pauses to listen as though he had heard something. Indeed, he had, as Cain startled a bushrat from its hiding place in the shrubbery.
SPACE Once the jungle returned to normal and the insects renewed their song, both the warrior and his companion, called Alasdair, continued their trek and exited the jungle.

SPACE You watch them further as they stoop to investigate some footprints in the sand. The footprints seem to make them nervous and they make haste for the cave you watched them exit earlier. Apparently, they are not part of the pirate crew you saw travelling through the jungle earlier. Those five had seemed cutthroat and hardened criminals. These two companions seem genuinely concerned for their dead friend, for one another, and for the “everybody else” they spoke of in the clearing.
SPACE Garn and Alasdair enter the cave, Alasdair taking a final, nervous glance about the beach.

*Hobyah are goblin-kin, though they are taller and thicker than their smaller cousins...they are also more sadistic and hateful towards demi-humans and humans...these particular Hobyahs worship Ochretia, arachnid queen, and have been stealing from nearby settlements for months...they moved on to raiding caravans only a few weeks ago and they began kidnapping and killing locals as of two nights ago...this shrine is dedicated to their goddess...you don't know where the skulls came from
