DA:How long have you been in GeoCities?
I first established my website, Athens/Acropolis/4089, in December of 1996.

DA:What brought you to GeoCities? What is the thing you like the best?
I had learned a smattering of HTML programming in chat with a few friends, in an off-Geo chat server. I wanted to put the new-found knowledge to use on a website. :} At that time I really liked the FAQs and easy instructions Geocities had established. Now I still like the FAQs and instructions, but most of all, I love the members' area with all its spiffy links. :}

DA:How long have you been a liaison?
Since April of '98--approximately a year.

DA:What exactly is a liaison? Can you describe your duties?
A liaison is a person who communicates information between the community volunteers (leaders) and the Geocities (paid) employees. For instance if Suzy Q is ill and must take time off, the liaisons are the ones who tell the Geocities people about this. We also are the "pinch-hitters" when it comes to filling in empty spaces that need filling; we help run the administrative end of organizing volunteers, ie. updating the volunteer information pages, helping to staff the homesteader help pages when no one else can is around to do so, etc.
Basically, we have to be the "organizers" and the "administrators" to keep the machine that is Athens on track.
Personally, I'm called a communications liaison, meaning that I recruit homesteaders who seem to have proficient HTML/site design skills, communicate with Geocities about various problems that are affecting homesteaders/CLs (technical problems, email mess-up problems, etc), etc. I also help mediate the various leader projects. (Of course, most all "liaison" tasks will overlap to some degree and will have similar functions while helping different audiences..)
A liaison, overall, in my opinion, is a Jack Of all Trades.

DA:What is the best thing about Athens?
The people. Definitely the people. I am very fortunate to have met some amazing, wonderful people in Athens. Each person is brilliant is his own way, has his own flair for life, and has his own marvelous sense of humour.

DA:If you could give out one piece of advice to those interested in Athens, what would it be?
*grin* Buy an HTML Bible when you move into your new home. If you apply for CL, make sure you have HTML Bible memorized. It'll be so handy.
For new leaders, I'd remind them of the quote by John Lennon, "Life is what happens when you're busy doing other things."

DA:What are you personal interests?
I love to read and write; I intend to pursue a career in writing, as a matter of fact. I also enjoy studying music and mythology of all kinds.

DA:How would you like to be thought of: in Athens? in real life?
Actually, I think the greatest honour would be if Athens could run smoothly, and people could look at Athens itself and see only a beautiful Shangri-La, without even thinking that I have had been around. Athens is a dream of millions of people; the dream itself should be what is thought of, not of some crazy woman who once volunteered to help it out. *wink* In real life I don't particularly want to be thought of.

DA:What is your biggest contribution to the Athenian philosophy?
Hehe. I once read Plato's "Symposium." Does that count? ;} No, I'm no philosopher.

DA:Anything you would like to add about yourself that the readers may be interested in?
*shrug* Naught of which I can think.

DA:Thank you for your time Ana.
