This might sound very selfish, but consider how much more helpful you can be already out of the container, trying to help those inside. Vijai,I put much thought and consideration into what you said in your last post to me (#1289). I prepared a point-by-point answer and let it simmer in my mind for the past couple of days - but when I returned to look at my response, I realized that I no longer saw things the same way that I did. So, I did not post it and took the time for more consideration.

This led me to think about all that has transpired since we started posting back and forth. Through contemplation on our conversations from the beginning, I realized that in order to begin to see and accept what you were saying, I had to distance myself (detach) from the emotional response your words automatically triggered. I realized that instead of truly listening for the core of what you were saying, I was “reacting” which isn’t listening (or understanding) at all.

I, being a highly sensitive person, still cringe at the idea of name-calling and harsh behavior in order to make a point (although I have said some pretty harsh things myself, as you pointed out), but I understand a lot more now “why” you do it. What you said in your last post about the necessity for calmness and open-mindedness reminded me to look at the situation with new eyes.

You have taught me a great deal through our often heated exchanges and I thank you for that. What I have learned has made me more compassionate and understanding and has reminded me how important it is to truly listen without jumping to conclusions or false judgments.

One statement in particular from your last post had such a profound impact on me, it still sits on my heart. You said, "So tell me by your reasoning, when they run away from me to glorify you what hope is there for them?"

Fighting for the sake of fighting means that the ‘point’ of the fight is simply to disagree with the opponent. That is not the same as a true argument, in which points are clarified with the goal of reaching some sort of understanding between parties.

Anyway, the only qualification I can claim is that I accept the Bible as true, and it claims that anyone who denies it's truth is a fool.
Being an ombudsman, I really thought you were smarter than this. If "truth offends" you and the Bible is 'true' then it should offend all those that are offended by truth. But since it does not offend you, then it is logical to say that the Bible cannot be true.
Interesting use of logic.

It carries with it the idea that if a person believes the Bible to be true, nothing it says can offend the person.

Apples and oranges. For example - if I refused to bath, and the truth was that I stink, I could still be offended that someone might point out that particular truth.

Here is your argument:
(1) Truth is that which offends me.
(2) I am not offended by the Bible
(3) Therefore the Bible is not true.
Here is my counter-argument. (1) The Bible is true. (2) I am sometimes offended by the truth. (3) Therefore I am sometimes offended by what the Bible says

Note that neither argument takes into account the idea that a person’s view can change. In particular, when a person grows as a Christian through time, less and less of the Bible offends, because that person comes to understand and accept more and more truth.

I can only make that claim about myself. If the Bible is true,

and I refuse to believe it, I am a fool. If the Bible is true, and I believe it, but refuse to act accordingly, then I am even more (i.e., doubly) a fool.

The concept of justice does not require that all criminals be made good.

In fact, it has nothing to do with changing for the better.

Justice for all means to give all exactly what they deserve.

If all men are sinners, then all men deserve whatever reward sinfulness earns. If there is one who is NOT a sinner, then such a one deserves whatever reward lack of sin has earned.

That does not answer the question, “Why must the Divine change all men for the better?”

When Christ 'His messenger' is sent to lead all souls to Him, then those in remote regions who never heard of him would be deprived of salvation since Jesus is "...the Way, the Truth and the Life, NO ONE comes to the FATHER except through..." him. (John 14:6")
You are correct, there is no salvation, except through Christ, and that salvation only comes through hearing the message about Him. Hence, anyone who does not hear that message is not saved. However, this does not infer that they are ‘innocent’ and lost.

All men are sinners. God chooses to save some, not all. That is the perogative of any ruler - hence the concept of ‘mercy’. Mercy is not an obligatory requirement of rulers. It is an optional choice dependent upon the will of the ruler. Even the definition of PERFECT does not include the connotation of “mercy for all”. It does for the concept of Justice. ALL deserve what they have earned. No one earns mercy.

Absolutely true, the concept of justice requires that all men, regardless of where or when they live, be judged in such a way as to receive exactly what is due.

Partially true, mostly false. God has NEVER given His Divine knowledge to men, although He has given some of it. No one but God has all divine knowledge.

Hence, the Prof’s statement implies too much. If he has said, “It would be unjust of God to deprived of souls millions (or even one soul) before Moses of a knowledge of wrong and right, and a concept of true justice,” he would be correct. All mankind has that - inherent - because of its relationship to the Creator. We are moral beings. There are no innocents.
