The Heart

        "Today, the day before a full moon appearance, I make my appearance. A peaceful place is available in the heart, but it has a door that is sometimes hard to open. Like crystals, it is hard and clearly it is a strong fortress against casual entry in most cases. We must heal our hearts for the coming days, for too many breaks and it is difficult to piece together.

        Be patient with the heart of a person. Doors open slowly and are at times too strong to be pulled open, but must be opened from within. To reach with our heart is to reach with the outer covering of the soul. It can be ripped and torn and bruised and sometimes not to be mended, but the soul rests secure and at peace in a safe place.

        Your place of refuge, your haven must be opened. It cannot continue to be closed for safekeeping. Too often life's experiences leave us heart sick. It is not a condition that often shows from the outside, but its effects can sometimes be seen in one's eyes.

        Covering the heart with a 'veil' instead of a door makes one more accessible to the delights of the heart. It can symbolically, shelter and protect, but can be brushed or pulled aside at the appropriate time.

        To what purpose do we hide our hearts? To keep protected, to feel less or no pain. But how do we heal and comfort ourselves if the door is so thick that one cannot get to it or push it open?

        Life is full of pain, it is true, but we cannot hide. A bird cannot stay in the protection of the trees forever. It must take flight, it must spread its wings."
