Consuming

"We all consume one thing or another. Some consume in small amounts, some consume in large amounts, and, of course, it depends on what is being consumed. We may eat too much, drink too much, sun too much, work too much, talk too much, play too much, anything can be done in excess. So, as consumers, and in this sense, we are not talking about buying, but what is taken in, we should be aware of what is being consumed as well as how much.

What do you hear in a day? How many negative messages are broadcast to you, either by electronic means or through others' voices? How many negative news do you read a day, and, how many negative things affect you in one day's time? All of these things are being consumed. Sometimes the effect of all this is negligible, but at times, it begins to warp the senses. We begin to see others and the world in a different light, a different view. We then begin to be affected mentally by that very 'sight.' We forget or do not see the sunshine.

What can be done about all of this negative 'trash' that comes at us each day? Trash is used in the sense of something that is discarded and moved to another place. We are so open to programming and unless there is balance with positive outlooks and positive people, it is easy to get layered with the heaviness of all the negatives. It is advisable to again, stop, look, and see what you are ingesting. We cannot block out the world, though many would like to try. We cannot always surround ourselves with peace and beauty. Often we are going through trials that seem unending and it is never easy during those kinds of times to find any sunshine. We ingest the darkness of negativity. Somewhere in that trial type of time, we need to deliberately seek out some light, to find something or someone who can lighten the 'view'. Deliberately trying to find balance in this way will help to alleviate some of the heaviness of negative times.

It may well be interesting to stop at the end of the day and see what you have ingested, what you have consumed. What have you taken in on the emotional level, the mental level, and the physical level? How does it all balance out? What is the final picture? How can you change one of the levels to affect the others? It is amazing how creative people can be if they give themselves a chance. When you see the picture of yourself has become overly ingested within, that is the time to be aware of balancing and mentally adjusting so that there can be change. This change is a little at a time. Seldom is it an overnight successful balance, but rather, a beginning of awareness of how much one individual can consume."
