Would you like to be a prophet? Most would readily say no or think
before giving a definite answer. It is a heavy responsibility and one
that can bring much turmoil and even rejection and ridicule. It takes
courage and a sense of 'knowing'. In modern times we do not have the
prophets we hear of from the past, that is, we do not say he or she is
a prophet, at least not very often. The more common current title is
visionary - those who look ahead or those who see. It can be
overwhelming to deal with the present, and sometimes past influences,
and also deal with future coming attractions, as the entertainment
field says.
In some small way, we oftentime sense or see what is coming. It is not that we can claim
to be of a particular talent or to do it with any continual accuracy, but we get "feelings".
Women, of course, are quite comfortable with women's intuition, but men may be just as
intuitive, but not see it in the same way or same framework. We know that
inventors have the vision to 'predict' a particular item or object can become reality.
We know that we have those who can sense earthquakes or know when a loved one is ill or has
passed on. Actually, there is an entire range of 'knowing' that we have but we don't use.
Why? Because to some, it is frightening. To some, it causes a sense of uneasiness and to
most, they are afraid to say anything for fear they will be thought 'crazy' and they are
somewhat correct. Anything that is not common to the masses will be suspect. We know there
is a range of abilities and talents and intelligence quotients so we do not think it too
unusual when a genius comes along or a particular talent stamps a child as precocious.
However, when it comes to prophesying, we are nervous about it, it doesn't encourage
comfort, but rather discomfort. Those who have potential may tell someone with the
admonition "don't
tell anyone" just in case they are wrong, and then, like any skill, if they are not exactly
accurate, the lid is clamped shut so there are no mistakes.
Mothers in particular have saved their children many times by listening
to their intution. That intuition can be stretched and meditated on to
be able to sense other levels of knowing. It is wise to listen. It is
wise to follow the sense of knowing within one's self. It is harder to
act on premonitions and tell it, so we each must follow our own
decision along these lines. Your "prophesying" may be very simple, a
hunch, a feeling, a knowing, but unless you are open to these things,
you will never know if you have the ability to look forward.
Listen well and speak little may become listen well and know.
