As channeled by Marcia Wilson
August 20, 2000
Sing a tune.... "I can't sing". Play a tune ..."I can't play".
Create a tune ...."I can't compose". So many fall into one of these
categories. We are not all musical, or at least it would seem so. One
who has perfect pitch cringes when a note is heard or played 'offkey',
whereas one who doesn't have that talent goes along thinking that the
singing is in harmony. Sometimes it is only when others tell him/her
that the sounds are not pleasing to the ear, that there is an awareness
of sound not being in balance.
Actually, as has been mentioned before, we are part of the harmony of
life. We all contribute to it, and as is the case with musical
instruments, we can continually create new and different harmonies
though we all play the same notes.....although some play in the higher
range. What do we do when we run into offkey 'performances'? It is
difficult to 'listen' to and especially if it is a daily 'tune' that
never seems to vary, it can wear one down note by note, or word by
word. We all experience this and it may, in fact, be coming from
ourselves. The answer is balance. As in a musical composition, we
must
add the 'notes' that will make for a more pleasing arrangement. This
is
not to say that it is an easy process but then composition seldom is
easy.
We all have good performances and off key performances.....balance and
imbalance that is constantly changing from day to day. Being aware of
the tunes we are playing by what we vibrate or send out, we can begin
to
create and change our compositions. As with musical creations, we
sometimes have to discard the way a certain 'tune' is created and begin
again to create a better version. The purpose of this communication is
to ask you to be a better life musician in the tune you play by being
yourself. You are unique.
