As channeled by Marcia Wilson

Suppose you could choose a time capsule that you could find in some
distant time? A memory box, a condensed symbolic collection of things
that would take the mind back to this time, this now, this century.
What would you put in it? Did you limit yourself to the size of the
box? Or did you creatively think of a larger size than most capsules?
Now to make it even harder, or to stretch your imagination, what would
you use to define not only the time, but to define you as a person?
Perhaps you would put in a particular memento of an especially
memorable
time, perhaps you would put in a picture of your family, your likes,
your dislikes, even a picture of yourself.
If you have certain achievements or awards, perhaps you'd include
those. You might want to consider your surroundings, your environment,
your location, even the news of the moment, or perhaps you would
include
a magazine that encompasses the happenings of the year or past
years.....or unusual events that have affected the world. If you are
artistic, or interested in the arts, you might want to include the
latest drama, or music, or art news. Whatever your main interest, you
would probably include some aspect of that topic. Take a few moments
and consider what you have or think on it for a few days as you add to
your mental capsule.
After you have collected your artifacts for your capsule in your mind,
look over what you have, do a re-check to see if there is something
important in this time that you forgot to include. Once you have the
contents settled on, mentally place these objects in front of you (in
your mind). Do you have a picture, a piece of the puzzle that defines
you? Perhaps you add something at the last minute that you hadn't
considered before ..an important book, or poem or saying.
Take the images you have in the mental box and take another look. Is
this who you are? Is this what is to be remembered? It is part of
your
life and the interests and people and animals and environment and all
that is there are parts of what is important to you. Then......without
all those ... look at you. That is the part that lasts. That is the
part that cannot be contained in a box but can be contained in memory.
That is the part that lasts. That is the part that grows and explores
and learns and discovers, and there you will find the real you.
