Connections are all around us. A gate connects
to a post, a string
connects to a shoe, a leash connects to a collar,
fingers to a keyboard,
and ears to a phone. There are so many
connections in the physical
world that it becomes unending. We connect with
the earth as we walk or
as we work in the garden or hike in the woods or
climb the mountains.
We connect with nature in thousands of ways. We
can connect physically
or we can connect emotionally. We can connect
when a bird of beauty
flies overhead with admiration and a sense of
wonder. We connect with a
baby without words.

Life is made up of connections. We connect in
some ways with each
other. We either deliberately connect and also
disconnect or we connect
unconsciously. We have experienced little bits
of connections when
something makes us turn to look at another. We
connect with our famlies
and our friends, again in both small ways and big
ways. Some 'connects'
are short lived and others extend indefinitely.
If we spend a few
moments thinking of connections, we can expand
the possibilities through
the physical, emotional and mental. We have
spoken before of mental
connections. The mind that can travel, the mind
that can be aware can
connect in many ways unknown to most. It takes a
strong mind, one
willing to accept that which it encounters, to be
open to non-judgement,
and to learn with courage.

What kind of connections do you make? What are
the ones that are the
most lasting, the strongest? On the other hand,
what are the ones most
fleeting and the weakest? What connection is
most important to you?
What do you do to protect that connection, to
make it grow stronger?
And, in thinking of these connections, what are
you extending and on the
other end, receiving? Connections can be like a
chain, a link, a
conscious encouraging action. Think about what
it takes to have a good
connection.

Connections, of course, can begin and can end.
We connect at birth and
disconnect at death, at least to a degree. How
we disconnect can be a
different subject to look at and observe. It can
be a way of looking at
an aspect of ourselves.

Build your connections carefully for they can be
uplifting or a weight.
Build your connection with your Self as carefully
as you would build a
foundation and a structure. Create a connection
with your Creator.
