Waking up is hard for some people to do and we
know about those 'nights
on the town' that cause us to want to pull the
covers up and stay in
bed. It is interesting how some people wake up
so quickly, so full of
life and energy and ready to tackle the day.
Then there are the ones
who move slowly into the day, as if the very
effort of waking is a
difficult thing to do. Body chemistry and inner
body workings have a
great deal to do with the type of waking up
person we are. What is it
like for each individual? As we wake, is there a
sense of something
left undone or is it a sense of completion, of
changing from one state
to another. Are we aware or do we just struggle
into the day or pop
into the day as some do.
As one switches from sleeping/dreaming to a
waking state, it helpful to
take a few moments and capture the feeling from
the dream state. Some
find it helpful to lie in bed for a few minutes
and review, as much as
they can, what they still have at the forefront
of their head. Taking a
few quiet moments and looking at the screen of
the mind, there can be
faces, situations, and views that are
unforgettable, and yet in a
moment, it can all disappear. Once you're awake,
the conscious mind
races ahead to take care of what is needed for
the day, yet in that
moment between sleeping and waking there is the
'twilight time'. It is
a connection to the subconscious, a connection to
the spirit level of
awareness. When you can hold on to that
connection into the waking
state, you can find helpful insights to bring
into your life. It is not
always words, and not always things that you can
understand, but being
able to hold them for a moment in the conscious
mind is an awareness
that is very helpful. Many people interested in
dreams keep a dream
diary but that is a habit that is hard to
develop. It is encouraging
because writing it seems to bring it forward even
more clearly then
trying to remember it in the mind.
We learn as we sleep, we extend our awareness and
our consciousness.
Many say they do not dream and yet it is there
but not remembered. It
is an awesome sight to view things just before
waking. Although images
may not be clear and once in awhile a little
disturbing such as "Who is
that?" it is still a window to a part of
consciousness not available in
the waking state, though perhaps in a meditative
state.
There are lessons available to think on, there
are beautiful sights to
behold. There are numerous experiences too
imaginative to describe. It
is another world to explore. Before you wake,
float a little, let the
transition be smooth and take a look at your mind
to see if there are
things that should be remembered. If you don't
seem to be able to do
this, don't worry. It will come forth when you
are ready if you desire
it. You may wake up with a different
perspective. Some of the best
lessons are in dreams.
