Power has been spoken of many times and in many
ways. It is the basis
of so many actions on earth that it is mind
boggling. People struggle
for power even though they are unaware that that
is actually what they
are seeking. There are constant little back and
forth "pulls" that
people do each day to jockey for position.
Sometimes it is in daily
living and a habit or way of living and sometimes
it is a deliberate
action taken on the part of individuals to pull
someone up or pull
someone down.

In the animal kingdom there is a pack and a
leader and in that pack the
leader must show himself to be strong. In the
female animal is the
instinct to protect and survive and that is
strong and sometimes
ferocious. In the human state, the levels of
leadership are often not
defined clearly. Those who are real leaders may
not be the ones who are
actually in leadership positions. This can be
due to a variety of
circumstances either planned or unplanned. It is
difficult when one can
see the answer to things and yet not be able to
implement it because the
power or authority is not there.

Power is tricky. It seems to be firm and in
one's grasp and then it can
slip or disappear. This is evident in royal
families or families in
power when suddenly someone takes over and the
power is gone. Power
involves responsibility. With despots, the sense
of power overrides the
responsibility. It is simply the aspect of being
in power that rules.
What is done is done with the sense of authority
unquestioned. This
kind of ruling has nothing to do with ruling or
authority in a
responsible way. Much has been done in the name
of right when in
actuality, it is done in the name of power
absolute.

Sometimes 'little' people seek power. By little
we mean those whose
spirit has not grown and has shrunk inside
themselves. There is a
needed search for something obvious that can be
seen which will give
these people a sense of importance or a sense of
accomplishment and, of
course, they always have the sense of doing
'good'. Even when it is
obvious there is no good involved and it is
known, still the beat goes
on, as they say, and they rationalize their
actions in whatever way it
takes. Sometimes that rationalization is a
rather simplistic approach
because looking at the entire picture would
actually waken some thought
that they do not want to deal with or look at
objectively.

Power struggles have gone on throughout time.
With individuals in the
modern world, they can be struggles between
countries, struggles between
ideas, and struggles between individuals who want
control or authority.
Seeing the interaction of these power seekers, it
is disappointing to
see that not only is little intelligence used but
little or no
spirituality. Mostly, their actions are directed
by the mind or the
ego. Their actions can be wasteful or they can
be hurtful or painful or
destructive. In dealing with power, one must
find something within that
is stronger than that which is obviously seen.
It may take a deep
search, for it may be hidden or may not have been
called upon before.
Emotion and mental activities can hide it behind
a smoke screen. Clear
the smoke and wade into the darkness and leave
the power brokers
behind. Look within to find the real power which
is in each of us. Use
it and communicate with it to find the answers
you need and the solace
you seek.
