Week 6
- Add text to your two pages if you haven't already done so.
- This is a week to catch up. Finish minimum requirements for Web Site Progress
before going on to other things. The only exception will be if the GeoCities
editor is down. Use check list and have it verified before going on the your
email and bulletin board work.
Need Help? Sources are closer than you think. Besides the teacher, try the
following for Web Page assistance:
- Your classmates--those who have already pioneered territory can pass
it on
- Try the tutorials and aids within this site at:
Creating
Websites
- Posting questions to the class bulletin board and/or to the Rezlife
list
- Email experts like Bill Bercu or Vino Sam
- Books on HTML and Creating Web Sites
- Since this is week 6, you should now have a MINIMUM of 6 good postings to
both the Bulletin
Board and to the Rezlife list via yourYahoo
email or Rocketmail account.
Week 7
- See assignments for week 6 above. Most of week will be continuing regular
computer assignments and catching up. With the Basketball schedule/tournament
this week we are uncertain about actual class schedules.
- Go to Native
American History Page and check out the Iroquois links; in particular,
scan Bruce Johansen's work and find another "proof" that the Founding Fathers
borrowed Iroquois ideas for the US government.
Week 8
- A daily grade of "A" to the first 3 students to find concrete proof (outside
of the items we discussed in class) that the Iroquois did indeed contribute
to our U.S. government. See Chapter 3 in Bruce Johansen's Our
Forgotten Founders.
- Be sure to check out the Bulletin
Board for announcements and to see this week's winners for "Cool Developing
Warrior Site of the Week"!!(*Note: use the "Re:" message to check out their
websites as well).
- By now you should have 8 QUALITY posts to the Rezlife list--generic ones
don't count for a whole lot. We are looking for "College Bound" level literate
postings--especially RESPONSES to other people on the list from outside TCHS.
- Continue developing your web pages. Go on to create a third page if you
haven't done so already.
- Complete the Poe
Hunt.
Week 9
- Now that you've begun your web site, it's time to work on making it the
best it can be. Of course by now you should realize that we are encouraging
you to contribute some new knowledge and viewpoints to the WWW. Pick up some
good solid advice about what makes an effective web site at Top
10 Web Site Tips.
- Two of the biggest mistakes in making web pages concern graphics: One is
using so many that it takes "forever" for the page to load up, while the second
mistake is using no graphics at all (a sure sign hardly anyone will visit
for long or ever come back). For assistance in creating your web pages and
for links to neat graphics, animations, and backgrounds go to: Web
Site Creation.
- Keep everything in balance. Grades are coming out shortly, so I will need
to evaluate your computer work as a major part of the grade--both in web site
creation and in your public postings to the bulletin board and to Rezlife.
While quantity is important for passing grades, QUALITY postings that demonstrate
deeper thinking and postings that RESPOND and COMMUNICATE with others get
much higher grades. You can check your Rezlife postings at Rezlife
Archives.
