Aromatherapy Recipes: Finding Essential Oils

Many people have written to ask me where to find essential oils. I hesitate to provide the names of specific companies, but since there has been much confusion on the matter, I've decided to list as many companies that sell essential oils as I can. Please note that this is in no particular order, and that a listing here does not in any way constitute endorsement. If you have trouble with a company listed here, specifically with low-grade products, please let me know and I will remove their listing. I accept all submissions to this page from private individuals; however, I will NOT accept submissions from companies, or from individuals known to be representing companies.
My recommendation to individuals trying to find essential oils for at-home use is to try your local health-food store. Nearly all the large ones carry some brand of essential oils. Make sure not to buy 'perfumed' oils; ask specfically for essential oils.

Please read the following warnings about essential oils:
Oils which ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR HOME USE include, but are not restricted to: cinnamon, clove, hyssop, and sage.
Oils which SHOULD NOT BE USED DURING PREGNANCY include, but are not restricted to: basil, clove, cinnamon, fennel, hyssop, juniper, marjoram, myrrh, peppermint, rosemary, sage, and white thyme.
Oils which SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR STEAM FACIALS include, but are not restricted to: bay, clary sage, ginger, juniper, pine, and tea tree.
Oils which are PHOTOSYNTHESIZING include, but are not restricted to: lemon, bergamot, lime, and orange. Do not go out into the sun for at least two hours after applying these oils to your skin.
