The Victorian Lodge of Research, which belongs not to one particular locality,
but to the entire Craft in Victoria and elsewhere, provides excellent opportunities
for the advancement of Masonic knowledge.

Its simple goals are:
TO EDUCATE,  TO PUBLISH,
AND TO COMMUNICATE.

The Lodge meets at the MASONIC CENTRE OF VICTORIA, 300 Albert Street, East Melbourne, on fourth Fridays from March to November.

A Master Mason who is a financial member of another Craft Lodge in Victoria or a subscribing member of a recognised sister Grand lodge is eligible, upon application, for election as a Full Member of the Lodge.

If you are unable to join the Victorian Lodge of Research, come along and visit us at any of our meetings, and take part in the discussion following the lecture. You will receive a very cordial welcome.

Brethren unable to join as full members, whether in Victoria or without, are encouraged to join the Lodge’s Correspondence Circle.

The Victorian Lodge of Research is a foundation member of the Australian and New Zealand Masonic Research Council.

Please note that due to a "corporatisation" approach by the United Grand Lodge of Victoria, individual lodge by-laws have been rescinded under new Rule 116, Schedule 12. All lodges under the Jurisdiction of the UGLV follow a basic corporate set of rules. To cover individual needs for any lodge, a lodge has a right to pass "Resolution(s)" for approval by Grand Lodge. These Resolutions once approved by Grand Lodge, the Lodge Secretary must keep a copy of the particulars relating to each Resolution in a "resolution" book.

For the Victorian Lodge of Research, a typical example of such a Resolution would be its right to have appended to the said Lodge, a Correspondence Circle. The Resolutions which will pertain to the said Lodge are being determined, and approval is to be sought.

To allow for more space to be employed for Education purposes (more papers), it has been determined that to publish Schedule 12 is not practical. Any brother wishing a copy of Schedule 12 should contact the Secretary;

THE AIMS OF '218'

1.	The lodge is decidated to masonic research.
2.	The diffusion of masonic knowledge.
3.	It seeks to uphold the great tradition of the Craft.
4.	The promotion of interest in ALL that constitutes Freemasonry.
5.	It sets no limits to its research, except it be within masonic bounds.
6.	It attacks the problems that confront the Craft today.
7.	It confronts the challenge of the future.
8.	The Lodge holds the view that, in the ultimate interests of the craft,  no opinion be stifled,  provided it be advanced in the true masonic spirit.

THE TRANSACTIONS

Each year Lodge members and Correspondence Circle members of 218 receive among other a copy of the annual Lodge Transactions of the Victorian Lodge of Research.

The Transactions contain the lectures presented to the Lodge during the year; as well as a number of papers selected for their excellence written by members, C.C. members and non-member masonic authors throughout the world.

SUBMITTING A PAPER

Masonic authors desirous to present a paper in the Lodge or have their paper published in the Lodge Transactions are invited to submit their paper in accordance with the Lodge Editorial Policy.

Authors should note that acceptance of a paper for inclusion in the Lodge Transactions rests wholly with the Editors.  For details go to 'Submitting a paper'.  

Any paper contained in the annual transactions may be read, etc. (by any brother) at any Lodge, "Order", or other masonic body with no prior permission required. Courtesy dictates that appropriate credit be given to the original author and the source, and the Victorian Lodge of Research would be pleased to receive indications of its use. The Diploma of Masonic History and Ideas, sponsored by the Victrian Lodge of Research, offers
