VIDEO UTILITIES

This page contains links to useful software to grab, view and edit video clips. Click on the links provided to go to a download location.

1) VidEdit: This freeware utility comes with two modules. One, called VidCap, captures single frames, multiple frames of full frame videos, and can be used to store them as .avi files.

The other module is VidEdit, which can be used to modify and edit stored avi video clips and associated sound recordings.

2) Fast Movie Processor: Another useful utility to edit and modify avi video clips - and it offers a variety of graphic manipulation options on the video clip - a useful accessory to VidEdit.

3) CONVMPG: A command line utility to convert large avi files into compact mpeg files. I have used this utility for all the clips on this page. You need to have avi files of a frame rate of 24 fps for this to work- you can use VidEdit to change the frame rate.

4) VMPEG: a must have mpeg player

5) XING: another mpeg player.

6) Windows Media player: Oh! And you'll need this won't you - if you don't already have it.

7) Warning, no frames captured, vertical sync interrupts.. : Are you getting this irritating error message when you try to grab videos? Try the link provided for more information. You may need to fiddle with your bios settings. I did and it worked!!

8) More links: Keep searching - and the net is likely to throw up some real interetsing stuff. Please email me if you find anything really good.
