Married Adele de Blois and had daughter Alix (born 1170, and married William Talvas I, Count of Ponthieu) and son Philippe. (3) Philippe II Augustus, King of France, born August 22nd, 1165. Died July 14th, 1223. Son of Louis and Adele. He married Isabella de Hainault and had son Louis. (4) Louis VIII, "The Lion", King of France, born September 5th, 1187 in Paris. Died November 8th, 1226. Son of Philippe and Isabella. He married Blanche of Castile and had sons Louis and Robert. (5) Louis IX, "the Saint", King of France, born April 25th, 1214. Died August 25th, 1270. Son of Louis and Blanche. He married Marguerite of Provence and had son Philippe. (6) Philippe III, "the hardy", King of France, born 1245. Died October 5th, 1285. Son of Louis and Marguerite. He married 1st to Isabelle d'Aragon and had son Philippe. He married 2nd to Marie of Brabant and had daughter Marguerite de France (who was second wife to Edward I of England). (7) Philippe IV, "the handsome", King of France, born 1268. Died November 29th, 1314. Son of Philippe and Isabelle. He married Jeanne I, Queen of Navarre, and had daughter Isabella. (8) Isabella "the she-wolf" of France, born 1292. Died 1358. Daughter of Philippe and Jeanne. She married Edward II, King of England and had son Edward. With her lover, Roger Mortimer, she captured and imprisioned her husband, who was then executed. |
