(1) Philip I, "the fair", King of France, born 1052. Died of malaria July 29th, 1108. Son of Henri I Capet and Anne of Kiev. Married Bertha of Holland and had son Louis. Philip was grossly obese, and was excommunicated by the Pope when he divorced Bertha to marry Bertrade of Montfort. (2) Louis VI, "the fat", King of France, born 1081 in Paris, France. Died August 1st, 1137. Son of Philip and Bertha. Married Adelaide of Savoy and had sons Peter and Louis. Despite his size, Louis was energetic, as well as a skillful diplomat in foriegn policy, and deeply religious. (3) Peter de Courtenay, born 1126, died 1180. Son of Louis and Adelaide. Married Elizabeth de Courtenay and had daughter Alice. (4) Alice de Courtenay, born about 1150. Daughter of Peter and Elizabeth. Married Aymer Taillefer.
