(1) Charles I, also known as Charlemagne, son of Pepin le Bref and Bertrada de Laon. Married Hildegarde, Countess of Linzgau, and had sons Louis I, King of France and Pippin I of Italy.

(2) Louis I, "the fair", King of France, born August 778 in Casseneuil, Aquitaine, France. Died June 840. Son of Charlemagne and Hildegarde. Married
Judith of Bavaria and had daughter Gisela and son Charles II. Married Ermengarde of Hesbain and had sons Lothair I and Louis II and daughters Hildegarde and Adelaide. Associated with an unknown woman and sired daughter Alpaid.

(3) Charles II, "the bald", born June 823, in Frankfurt, Germany. Died October 877, in Brides-les-baines, France. Son of Louis  and Judith. Married Ermentrude of Orleans and had son Louis II and daughters
Hersent and Judith (born 844).

(4) Louis II, "the stammerer", King of France, born November 846, France. Died April, 879, in Compiegne, Oise, France. Son of Charles and Ermentrude. Married Adelaide
of Paris (first cousin twice removed) and had son Charles.

(5) Charles III, King of France, son of Louis and Adelaide. Married Princess
Edgiva of England and had son Louis IV, D'Outre-Mer.

(6) Louis IV, D'Outre-Mer, King of France, son of Charles and Edgiva. Married Gerberge of
