Note: I've listed Charlemagne's ancestors as far back as I am confident. I've seen his ancestry traced back to such notables as the Merovingian Kings (his mother seems to have had a trace of Merovingian blood), Argotta "the mother of all Kings of France", and many others, including the Pharoahs of Egypt (click here for a rebuttal of said Pharoahic line) and ancient Roman senatorial families. However, not enough proof exists to convince me, so his lineage here only goes back to St. Arnolph. -- Jessica
