Well I've been here many years, I've shard many memories with this family most good, some bad.  But there's one thing I can tell you and that is this family sure does like to argue! But I know they love eachother anyway!

I remember the day Hank came slowly walking up the driveway and  onto the porch and into the house with an envalope in his hand, I had no idea an envelope could carry so much bad news and bear so much saddness for me and the family.  Anne met him at the door, took one look at his face, tears came to her eyes, and she put her arms around him and said "When" "Day after tomorrow" was his reply.  I'm thinking day after tomorrow what? Well, I found out way to soon when Jeff came bounding down the stairs and Hank said "I've been drafted baby brother." Drafted...what does "Drafted" mean? did the wind blow on him? Then it hit me..."drafted" I've heard it on the radio before...drafted meant Hank was leaving...leaving I just hoped he'd come home soon.  Well, day after tomorrow came and went and with it so did Hank.  The family didn't laugh too much after that for a while, and boy was I glad when Ginger came over, she always seemed to lighten things up a bit.  Every night the three remaining Metcalf's would join hands and pray for Hank and his friends who were at war.  The family started to be home less and less.  Anne and Linda got jobs at a factory and Jeff at a Roadhouse.  But I guess it was all for their own good.  I guess they figured the busier they were the less they would think about and miss Hank.  Letters came fron Hank but none too frequently, boy did I miss my friend.  I missed Sarah too, although she had started coming over more and more often, mostly to see Jeff and I wondered what Hank would think if he knew.  I wanted Hank to come back soon.  Then one day when I didn't think I could take it anymore a yellow checker cab pulled up to the house and you'll never believe who jumped out and yelled "Anyone home?".  It was Hank!!! Boy did my glass glow!...
