St KildaShoe polish. Sunday night, getting ready for High School. Scott is in here polishing his shoes, and I can smell High School. Routine, Ritual and Repression. The 3Rs of my High School education.
I get my hour back tomorrow. Maybe now I'll have a fighting chance of being on time. Do other people/countries have daylight saving? I love it imho, but heaps of people loath it. I like it even more, when winter begins to creep in and suddenly I have an extra hour to lie in bed and read. Sure its only for one day, but it still feels good.
One of my good friends left for China on Thursday. It was sad to see her go, and real only today when I push the speedial marked "S" and then recalled she won't be there to pick up the phone and scream - "Gad, where have you been?", she's going to walk the great wall, stand in Tienenmein Square (sp???), practice acupuncture, and come back different.
Travel does something to us all, to those who go out and away, and to those who remain behind. Subtle, and sometimes not so subtle shifts in perception, and attitude. Mostly, and most impressively a growth in spirit and confidence, and a sense of tolerance.
Still looking for a kitten. The Big Woobie is still keeping me awake at night - to play. Large, black, 6kg cat on your FACE at 3am. Please, someone, if you have some kittens you don't want, email me! I am getting desperate.
I watched LaDolce Vita again last night. Oh what it would be to speak Italian, any of the romance languages. I have a friend who is Indian, here in Australia, on a student visa, she has a degree in French, and is working on a Masters Degree in Japanese. She speaks German, Italian and a number of Indian languages including Tamil and Hindi - not to mention very beautiful and eloquent English. She's going to be leaving soon to work in Japan.
I don't think I've even mastered English yet.
I had some mail from Kymm, our OpenPages, Web Ring support type person, who mailed me list as long as my arm of mistakes in my pages. Mostly cul-de-sac links and inconsistencies, I felt a little flat after that. I hope my pages aren't that bad.
I have had some mail from other diarists and readers, which have been complimentary, and one person who accused my of being pedestrian. Sorry.
And finally, we went to buy Easter Eggs today. There were none left. Except a few broken "Humpty Dumpty" eggs. When we were kids my parents used to give HDs, and all I ever wanted was a bunny shaped one, but my mother maintained that if we were going to be so silly as to have easter that at least we would have eggs, and not bunny shapes.
I still wonder what it was that my mother meant by all of that.
For My Listening Pleasure....
