Franco Squillari history
Short history:
1994: First year on ATP-tour. Played only in the satellites 2 and 3 in Argentina where he reached 4 and 5 place. 1995: Played another year on satellite circuit without any specific results. 1996: Made a real jump in the rankings after reaching quarterfinal in Kitzbühel after beating players like Kuerten, Moya and Schalken but lost to Alberto Berasategui. 1997: Was ranked inside the top 100 for the first time ever during six weeks between April and June largely due to the result in Grand Prix Hassan 2 in Casablanca, where he reached the final but lost to Hicham Arazi. After the top result in Casablanca he advanced to quarterfinals in the challenger-events in Neapel and Prague. In October he reached semifinal in Lima-challenger. In november he won his first challenger in Rio Grande and just a week later he won the Copa Ericsson Challenger in his home-town, Buenos Aires. 1998: Played more and more ATP-events. Was ranked steady inside the world 100. Played dreamtennis in the Braunschweig Challenger and beat fellow countryman Lucas Arnold in the final. Was runner up in Venice Challenger. Reached semi-final in Kitzbühel ATP and final in Palermo ATP, but was defeated by Mariano Puerta, Argentina.
