School Handbook

Please note......

    Arrival at school:
  • Most students arrive by bus between 8:30 and 8:50am. Students who walk should plan to arrive at school after 8:30 am.

School Bus Rules:Use of the school bus by students is a privilege for the students and students are to behave appropriately while on the bus. The school bus is an extension of the school and thereby operates under the same set of rules as the school. Students are expected to:
  • Remain seated and speak in a normal volume.
  • Obey the bus driver and supervisors.
  • Use appropriate language. Profanity is not tolerated.
  • Keep body parts and other items inside the window.
  • Students who abuse their bus riding privileges will be disciplined at the school and may risk suspension for a period of time.

    Routines and items of Interest
  • School Hours
  • 8:50 am Enter school
  • 9:00 am Opening Exercises
  • 10:30-10:45 recess
  • 11:45 Lunch
  • 12:45 Afternoon classes begin
  • 1:45 - 2:00 recess

    Leaving School Grounds
  • We are responsible for the students from the time they arrive until they leave after 3:30 pm. We insist, therefore, that all students remain at school during this time period. Exceptions will be made only if the student brings a note signed by a parent or guardian. If you wish to pick up your child prior to 3:30 pm dismissal, please report to the office so that the classroom teacher can be notified that you are waiting for your child.

    Use of the School Telephone
  • The telephone is to be used by the students for emergency purposes only. No social calls, please. Teachers receive their messages during breaks in the day so that classes will not be disrupted. They will return your call at their earliest convenience.

    Lunch
  • Students eat their lunch between 11:45 and 12:05 pm. We encourage parents to pack a nutritious lunch.

    Absenteeism
  • The attendance verification check is a process that enables schools to verify a student's absence or lateness with the parent or guardian. The school secretary calls the parents at home or at work to account for the student.
  • Parents are asked to please call the school and leave a message if their child will be absent that day.

    Library Books and Textbooks
  • Students will be assigned certain textbooks and will be allowed to sign out a number of library books. If these books are lost or damaged, the child will be responsible for replacing them.

    Goals of Catholic Education
  • We acknowledge the dignity of each student and his unique worth as a child of God.
  • We believe that the school must educate the whole person - the intellect, the emotional, the physical and the spiritual.
  • We hold that Catholic Education must be carried out in a Catholic Environment.
  • We recognize the right of each Catholic child to obtain a Catholic education regardless of economic circumstances.
  • We intend to give the parents an honest and continuous evaluation of their children's development.

These broad objectives are more specifically defined as follows:
  • The development in children of a Christian set of values, morals and attitudes.
  • The achievement of academic excellence.
  • The fullest possible developments of each individual student, keeping in mind the age and the unique capabilities.
  • The development of the ability to have students think for themselves and to make sound judgements.
  • The promotion of the need for spiritual, vigorous citizens active in Church and community.
  • The development of self discipline and respect for the law of the land.
